Raised the bar at WSID last night with three runs in the 12's, run a 12.825 at 117mph,12.949 at 116mph and a 12.502 at 114mph. Also scared myself shitless in my first run when got the car sideways mid track after hooking 3rd gear and lighting up the wheels, combination of tyre pressure to high (24lb)and a poor burnout. rectified that by dropping the pressure to 20lb and doing better burnouts to get some heat in the tyres. Reason for the improved times was a supertune yesterday by Unique Auto Sports, now putting out 303.3 RWKW (see seperate post) Can still improve on those times as 60foot times are still poor with a best of 2.2, one of these days will fit a bigger stall convertor. Wayne (ports)also competed, still working on his launches, got down to a best of 13.470, Brett with the 180sx improved his to a 13.00something and a non forum member (soon to join) Ross with a nice copper coloured Zed running 14's but having clutch troubles. Pretty stoked with the nights efforts, think that makes it the quickest auto Zed around here now.
AWESOME!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Great stuff! you can really see that extra power, your trap speed is HUGE! well done.
Well done Wiz  Top effort Ron, it was a lot of fun being there. That trap speed is real fast 117mph, go the auto. The other time on the slip is my PB.(one on the left) I'm starting to get the hang of this clutch business. Actually beat Ron to the line, but he gave me a 1 second headstart. 13.470 @ 107.87mph. Ran my zed in full street trim, except for spare, so next effort I intend to go to town and strip her to the bare bones and see if 12's are in. Managed to do a massive burnout with the old 'toe-heel' method, much easier than I thought.
Top work Ron........>> You are really setting the bar for the rest of us. Mikey and I will be doing our best to catch you this weekend, but with only one run each it might be hard. Go the Autos!!!!
Congratulations Ron! awesome time..just sorry I wasnt there to see it Well done Ports too, heading in the right direction And Brett a 13 from that 180 , top stuff, I remember you buying that car Ron, she wouldnt have done a 13 minute pass back then.. hahahaaa the little black beastie has come along way.
GO, the Wiz! Onya, Ron. Great times. But something I still don't understand, is how do you get a quicker ET but with a slower MPH?
It's all in the 60 foot times Dougy, if you can get through there quicker, your going to get to the end quicker, your not loseing time by wheel spinning etc. The more time you take to get to the end the more speed you build up.
But I've cut a 2.2 second 60ft, and the quarter MPH was only 87 Oh! Wait a minute! It's only (?) an NA.:LOL: But it IS an auto. Wheel-spin? What's wheel-spin? And it takes me 3 extra seconds to get to the end, so why doesn't it go faster than yours?:LOL::LOL::thumbsup: Thinks: If we raced each other, and you carried the beer, there'd be none left for me by the time I got there.
Congrats, Ron. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm .... 12.5 by RZM? Not this time around! If I crack a 13.502 I'll be happy cos it will be a new PB. But the real target just has to be 13.39 to piss Max off and get above him in the rankings again. That'll teach him to consider booze and bed to be more important than Z related motorsport!!! Having previously cut a 2.0 60ft, I'm also keen to take that to the 1.9's, but I fear that there is now a little (lot?) too much axle tramp for that to happen.
Congratulations Ron, I remember something a little while back about someone being disappointed with the times they were pulling. Bet that situation has changed a shed-load now It's a great combo obviously, the Wizard @ the WSID
Thanks Pete Good luck, although the first run can often be the best, before the performance drops off, heat soak etc You really need a couple of runs to get everything dialled in properly.
Hey Dub Yeh pretty happy, Thanks for the + comments guys. Now if i'd been a gnat's hair quicker, i'd been in the 12.4s, never really satisfied eh.:LOL::LOL:
Congrats Ron! Nice time... 117mph should get you down to flat 12's/high 11's I would have thought! Time to get some slicks and front runners!
Slicks, Front Runners, Shed a couple hundered pounds in weight and a BIG stallie and i'm there.
