Other than timing belt, waterpump and thermostat (plus bypass hoses) what other items are important to change when doing this 100km service? My Z is nearing its 100,000km milestone and would like to get this done ASAP.

    Cheers for the advice:thumbsup:

personally i grabbed a kit from concept z

did my service last may so I imported a kit from concept z performance in the states. see here for their 60k mile (100k km) kit. everything you need for a pretty comprehensive service, just a warning though, one of the belts (power steering I think) will not work on aus/jap cars as its to fit a left hand drive car so be aware of that.
cant speak highly enough of service though, delivered to my door within a working week plus I saved a few hundred $$$

    cheers, Tim.

    The cams seals and tensioner

How important are they? Or should I just stick to the simple timing belt, water pump and thermostat only?

I got quoted for All the above items plus cam seals and tensioner and 6 hours labour for a total of between $650-700 from Midas, keep in mind this is NZ price.

    Don't believe it Eric

They must be quoting on a Pulsar @ that price.

Yes you need all the 100k components... don't skimp!

Agreed. My 100K kit was done for me unknowingly

without changing the timing belt idler bearings / tensioner back when I was young and stupid. and didn't know better ... Now I'm just older ... (no response necessary K-Zed[IMG])

Now only a year later, they are whining like a Pete Jackson gear drive when cold and I have to replace em all myself ... at least the sound is cool for now...

While you're "down there", get everything possible replaced ... saves so much time/energy/money later..

Still amazes me... At the time, I gave the mechanic a 'blank cheque' to 'change everything' and they still neglected to do so many things ... Oh-well, at least I get to do them myself and know they are done now...

    Whats the kit like?

Hey lidz, did you install the kit yourself? if so, was it easy to do, or did you need any specialised tools?
this 100,000k kit sounds like an alright deal, just wanna make sure that i could do it myself!.

btw, how much did you pay for it when you got it, if you don't mind me asking? (PM me if you want)

    cheers,
    -Tony

    No quote from Harvey

I believe he has moved on to work for another garage as keeping the Techncar open wasn't working out well. You can check on the nz300zx forum on that.

Oh, do you mean all the above items plus 6 hours labour is cheap? I do know the owner of that Midas from church and been a loyal customer since I got the zed so you can say he knows a bit about zeds and he used to own one himself. Maybe not as much as Harvey but his work is constantly good and at lower rate too. ;)

Tektrader Z32 Hoe, service me baby

If you have never done one before

There is no way in the known universe they can do a FULL 100k in 6 hours including cam seals!

In fact, I recon they would be struggling to do it in 12 hours.

    Be very careful.

    mysteries of universe explained...

well those relating to my service...

I was 20 when I got my zed & my previous ride was a 1980 mazda 626 so my mechanical knowledge was pretty much oil goes in this hole, petrol goes in the other one & if more serious than that call racv... as such I had it all installed by z shop in vic.

Took Lindsay & his team 8 hours to fit the kit, replace passenger side & centre idler bearings, change front pads & change fluids & filters. mind you they're a z specialist shop & Lindsay has been working on zeds for 30 odd years so as mentioned by tektrader69 dont expect a mechanic who is unfamiliar with zeds to do it anywhere near as quick.

60k mile kit w/ belts was approx $550au to my door (shipping was $65us)
z shop bill was smidge over $800 but that included the idler bearings, fluids, filters & brake pads.

It really is worth getting as much done as you can because it'll cost a fortune to go back later & replace that little bit you figured wouldn't matter.

Good luck, any other q's, just fire away.
    cheers, Tim.
