    Hi all

I'm in the last stages of my 100k service and have decided to replace the autotensioner for a new unit (after reinstalling the old one) because It makes better sense to do it now than later (my false economy was to replace it later Do'h)

When I took the old tensioner off to fit the new tensioner unit, the timing belt moved and I heard the drivers side exhaust cam sprocket "move a little". Problem is I've rotated crank 720 degrees as per the Tech guide, hence the marks no longer line up, so i'm unsure the EXACT position of that sprocket:

Quote: " make sure the thick washer is on it) & rotate the crank 2 times (720 degrees) clockwise to ensure the valves will not make contact with the pistons when the engine is started. Check the auto-tensioner's extension"

My question: Is this just a matter of rotating the crank 720degrees "counter clockwise" to get back to TDC and the timing marks/belt aligned. Then aligning the timing mark on the "moved" exhaust cam sproket and starting again from that point?

    Cheers
    all, Pete

You'll still be at TDC if you have rotated 720deg as that is one complete engine cycle.

Take the timing belt off completely and line it all up off the marks on the crank and cams and timing belt. You'll know your right then.

Have a serch for 100K help, I've posted up heaps on how to get it back in the right spot after it gets all mixed up.

    Thank you

    Thanks Chrispy

I had a search through the Tech section, but most of the info talked about the "timing belt change". I'll look in the search a bit more.

Once again, Thanks for the info
    Cheers
