    Hi all,

I'm attempting the 100k service and I have done goofed. While trying to remove the lower water hose I have snapped an allen key into the bolt (as shown in pics). Any idea how to get it out/get bolt out??? Its in a bitch of a spot too...

Also, I need to vacate the garage im in by Sunday night at the latest, so there is a strong possibility I'll be hosting a tech day on Saturday to try and finish it off! Booze + food will be provided! Im in Ivanhoe, Vic. So anyone willing to lend a hand would be very much appreciated! Once its confirmed I'll make a post in the upcoming events section.

try bashing a socket over the bolt.

    1) you could try a long screwdriver or similar and hit with hammer to free it as it is only sitting in there or
    2) get creative with a welder and weld something onto the bolt.
    3) if you could get a dremmel or something similar you could try cutting a slot in the head and remove with a normal screwdriver.

Needle nose pliers? Or jiggle loose?

Assuming you used the right size it should only be sitting in there... But if the bolt itself is rounded it could have chewed in and be a bitch to remove...

12 or 13mm socket and extension. As bonezx suggested- tap the socket over the head of the bolt.

This definately works, 12mm socket worked for me. I had trouble with a different bolt in the same area last week. (The bottom centre bolt for the upper coolant pipe).

Otherwise to remove the broken bit, you could try using a magnet? If you tape one to the end of a screwdriver, you should be able to have it stick.

Is it the ball on the end of the allen key that came off? When it happened to me I got it out with a magnet on a stick, thankfully it wasn't jammed. If you get the top water hardpipe off you will have a lot more room to move.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Tried bashing a socket on but didn't have much luck. Took the upper hard pipe off and once I had room i managed to get it out with a magnet and a bit of patience!

Will still probably have tech day on Saturday, will post details soon.

While I'm at it... I havent been able to remove the power steering belt, it seems to be too tight to come off. I have loosened all bolts and rotated counter clockwise as far as it will go (a few cm from loosest possible). I have the belt '4PK925' on there. Is this the right belt?

Only way to get those off is to 'walk' them off with a screwdriver. Jam it between the belt and the pulley and spin the crank by hand with a breaker bar and a 27mm socket.

I usually just slide part of the belt over the pulley, then turn the pulley around, and it comes off fair easy. =]

But also make sure the power steering pump is as loose as it can be, the runner gets jammed and its too hard to push the pump to a loose belt position by hand. To loosen it, get a bit of wood + a hammer, and a few good knock's should loosen it =]

    Hey,

Just wanted to say this was completed successfully with the help of martin and andrew from the forum. All up and running nicely again! (minus left timing belt cover hehe).

    Cheers,

    Kyle
