Well it took me about 25 - 30 hours (Was my first time, I did it alone, I am a noob ) But I DID IT!!! It runs! And not only that but it feels like a brand new car! I barely recognise her! Feels much quicker, more responsive now (could also have something to do with the new UDP?) Anyway I'd like to thank everyone who gave help and advice, I couldn't have done it without the great people on this forum. Also a big thanks to Caz for the great price on all the gear and quality service as always!!! :zlove:
well done mate, nice to see there are still a few on here that do their own work Which udp did you put on ,a gfb ?????
Congrats mate , bet it feels good :zlove: Give urself a pat on the back and have a few beers for me 30hrs is pretty quick for a first timer? Trev
Congrats, I'm currently in the middle of doing mine myself. So far I have spent 5 hours on her. Just waiting for my parts to arrive now, so I can put her back together Did you take the opportunity to clean, or paint things while you were in the area?
wow 10 days? Guess I did ok then... I have heard its about 8-10 hours for a qualified mechanic, so I guess 25-30 is ok for a noob. tbh I am relieved just to have got it done at all!
Thanks guys. It does feel great to get it finished Good luck with the service SIM300! I definitely DID take the opportunity to give it a good clean, but not paint... I am starting to wish I painted the timing covers. It's quite a hassle getting to them. Oh well, I definitely won't miss the next opportunity
Cheers mate. Yeah the covers require a lot of time to remove. I was going to paint mine, but have since decided not to re-install them, and have the belt exposed. Did you take any pics, I like to see these kinds of things? Also, how did you tighten the crank bolt, screw driver against the fly wheel? I was hoping to have mine back on the road by now, but I'm still waiting on parts.
