Well ive had my car for nearly a year now and i had noticed oil coming from under neath the timing covers, a very worn alternator belt, and lots of oil build up around the UD pulley area! I figured that there had not been a major service done in this baby in her 16 year long life. So to fix my leakin oil problems, i would have to take pretty much the whole front of the engine off, now gee...if the front is goin to be off i might as well perform the major service DUH! So i bought all the parts and last weekend started on it. Here are some pictures in progress..

The coolant game out pretty much brown, i was like OMG, and the many litres of oild i found behind the timing belt covers was more then you could buy in a shop!

Now there have been 2 problems i had come across, 1 was moving the stupid power steering/oil pump, which as hard as i smashed it, wouldnt move and 2 gettin the UD pulley off. I eventually got that off by cranking the engine and a breaker bar. Nice little Ifo which i found in the tech section.
So thats where im up to atm. I have to wait because the seals they gave me are d wrong ones, so ile fix that up tomorrow and we should be on our merry way. Hopefully this serivce will bring some new life to my Z. Ile Keep you guys updated!

    MATE. LOOK AT THAT!

Looking like a new engine mate! Good work.

Here is a tip, the 2 coolant lines where you attach the 2 small rubber hoses. Make sure you clean the build up of crap off them before you start putting it back together. Getting the hoses on with the corrosion still there is next to impossible!

Check and double check your TB install. You don't want to undo all that work because you're one tooth off!!!! Use a mirror to check the main crank position, get a mate to help you, makes it a lot easier. Here are some before and after pics from my 100k service,

Good work! Are you doing the full 100k kit? seals, tensioner, idlers etc? Have a real good look at the two water pipes going into the engine. One of mine was corroded through, found it after cleaning all the corrosion and gunk off. Better to find it now. Read and understand the correct method of tensioning the T/Belt (Service Manual-Tech Section)and remember to remove the "Chewy Bolt" when done. As said before, check and re-check the belt setup, don't lock it up until you're sure there are the correct No. of teeth between marks
[IMG] I did it the easy way:cool:
