About to do the 100,000 service on my car. Replace timing belt, tensioners, drive belts, plugs, etc. etc.. And the mechanic thinks I should replace the cam and crank seals whilst the engine is out. Has anybody had any problems with these leaking? Or is it best to leave them in there if there is no problem? Better to go genuine or are aftermarket seals ok? Is there any other things I need to cover in this service aswell? Hoses? Thanks guys!
Cam and front main seals are cheap ...>> and require timing belt to be removed to fit. zcar91 and I only change them if they're leaking but then we wouldn't be paying labour to fit them later if they started to leak. Get a genuine water pump, there have been dramatic failures of after market pumps.
And the two bypass hoses......>> To the heads from the upper water pipe. A good aftermarket hose of 32mm (id) should be cheaper then the factory bits. Also check the two pipes they they mount to that bolt to the heads as they are often very coroded.
Depending on how big the bankroll is - if you are taking the plenum off to do the injectors then definately replace all the fuel hoses. Also consider removing all the coolant lines under the plenum and doing the bypass. My Zed had 117,000 on the clock and all my coolant lines were ratshit.
