$10,000 and a t/t

    I want to have a t/t built :eek: :eek:
    My question is who is the best engine builder in Australia to build me a very quick t/t ,i would be spending around $10,000 on the motor :confused: :confused:
    In other words,who is the best in the business

    John at Unique quoted me $9500 a few years ago and that included BB turbos forged internal etc etc , at the time I thought it was way expensive , in hindsight after 2 lots of machinists stuffing up numerous times , it may have been money well spent

    Yeah you wont get much, if any change, out of a 10k rebuild. Especially if you are doing rods, pistons, bearings, head work, injectors, new timing chain, new under plenum hoses, etc. Good luck mate! :zlove:

    since you are in melb...

    I would say Joe Imbessi would be the man you want to speak to...

    $10,000 will get you a nice motor but nothing super special... by the time you factor in turbo's, head work and all the other associated labour, expect to pay around $15000 if not more... It depends on what you want. My budget for my TT motor is $8000, but that includes doing a lot of the stuff myself. However, the bottom end machining and assembly I'll get done by Joe.

    Also, if you are putting this engine in your current NA as I will be, you need other associated TT bits such as all associated plumbing, intercoolers etc etc which does add up.

    Engine rebuild!!!

    John at UAS qouted me about $15,000 for 300-350rwkw. Which plenty of power , That is 400 + hp at the wheels:eek: :cool: . Just a comparison a GTS vt commadore is ment to have 300kw, but they only manage 225rwkw. They cost about $80,000. so they have 300kw at the flywheel not the wheels.

    Yeah Simon I have to agree with the others 10k wont cut it mate. I have spent around 8.5k so far and thats a bullet proof bottom end with stock recoed heads with new lifters and valves etc, full 100k kit new VCT's and a host of other new goodies like oil pumps, dipsticks etc. I am now doing the heads up and by the time they are done and have new Garrett turbos on manifolds and all tuned etc and bugs sorted I wont get much change from 20k me thinks.

    I think you could do it for around 15k and get a reliable engine with around 350 on tap, but remember more power needs bigger brakes etc :D :D

    Buy all your own performance gear, get someone to do the engine work only for you. You'll get butt hurt bad if you let them source all your turbos and other performance mods aswell... It's way cheaper to walk in with an engine and a box of parts and just say "here rebuild this with these" lol That way you can buy stuff as you go, instead of forking out $10,000+ all at once...

    sell the NA together with your $10k and buy shifter's car.

    remember that $10k might get you around 300rwkw but you have to think about suspension, brakes, driveline (diff, tailshaft, gearbox), cooling system, ecu, etc...

    Yeah ive factored in all that Chris,Kathy wants the black one,i knew i shouldnt have let her drive it :eek: As u know i like to start a blank canvas,so im doing everything i want ,rather than someone elses vision.
    You know Kathy well enough Chris,what would happen if i sold the black one,id cop a hiding lol :bash: :bash: :bash:

    Agree with Mark about Joe, he's close to you isn't he? And he's built some race motors too so he knows his stuff.

    Is your 10k budget for just the motor build and not including turbo's?
    Maybe post up a list of what you want to do ie. just head work (cams, porting, bigger valves etc) or more bottom end work maybe? And what's your goal for a power figure?

    If you are serious about keeping to your budget then i say rebuild to OEM spec, UAS manifolds, z1 gt600r turbos, and SARD 650cc injectors. Should see you with a reliable 300rwkw or so and under 10k.

    man you scared me... shifter isnt selling his car is he?!?

    simon do you plan to inlcude new turbos in this also? because i think 10k might be quiet streched if you plan on turbs also, less your planning on ebay.

    i also agree with sourcing your own parts 1st at discounted rates as opposed to having the engine rebuilder supply them, sometimes you end up paying more and dont get what you wanted in the 1st place...

    alot of little niggly things too, you could use rob to help you out since hes doing the same too, but i imagine hed be a tad more pedantic to you :D

    Simmo im so glad that you've seen the light! But for 10K i reckon you should go all over the car, suspension, brakes then engine.

    I'd say being in Melbourne JPC would be a good option, they have built some very fast zeds

    im not sure if he is but theres a car exactly the same as shifters on the UAS website and its for sale.
