Anyone after 1 piece tailshafts for their ZEDS in Melbourne, go n see JEFF LAGERWAY TAILSHAFTS he is in the Knox area and can be contacted on 975840115. Eliminate that troublesome factory 2 piece tailshaft.
I'm very happy with his friendly service and excellent workmanship. He charges $250 supply only or $350 fitted, thats with new uni-joints too! Nissport were charging $550 fitted whom Jeff's supplies to, so go figure. Go straight to the supplier n save $200 or $300 if you are willing to take it out yourself, easy done. Thanks Tektrader for his phone number!

Damnt. If only you had put this up a day earlier. I just got a tailshaft done at nissport yesterday. I paid 550. Thats damn annoying. 200 dollars is alot of money for me. Oh well. If I ever need a new one then I'll down there.

By the way can you retype the phone number. You typed 9 digits.

mmm I paid $500 then a year later (when I noticed it was buggered) $160 for a new uni joint to be fitted.. the balance weights seem to not have been moved when they did that so even though they said they balanced it I think I'm gonna have to take it somewhere else to be sure.

Ah well dude maybe next time!

I wouldn't think you would need another one anytime soon. They last a fair while provided u regease the uni's once every 10,000 klms (Jeff reckons no one does it anywayz n they still last over 200,000klms), there is a grease nipple on the uni-joint.

    dat price was 4 a 2 seater

i wouldn't think a 2+2 shaft would cost dat much more (its only a longer shaft- so i think it would only effect price by say $10 or so). from memory i think da joints r rebuildable, you would have 2 ask him dude cheers

He uses either rebuildable holden one tonner unis or a big MAZDA one.

Either is good. Geoff works out of his house so you cant get lower overheads than he has. Cash talks in this case !! :D

I'll let you know how mines going once I get out for a good drive. Should be a difference in acceleration with less rotating mass. I'll let you know if the car feels better.

As far as I'm aware, for the 450 I paid (you'll pay 250) he makes the driveshaft for your car. And nissport allowed me to chose whether I wanted a light drive shaft or a very strong driveshaft. In the end we compromised between the two and said I wanted the lightest driveshaft I could get whilst still being strong. I think in the end it saved about 4-5 kilos in weight compared to the standard 2 piece dealie.

This is really good to know. I bought one from nissport a few years ago for either $550 or $600 fitted and was promised new servicable uni's. A couple of years down the track I was getting a shake crusing at 110. Had a wheel alighnment done... and then another but still had the shake. I took the shaft to be balanced and was told it couldnt be cause the uni's were worn out and that they were the originals welded into a new piece of pipe

    Just gave Jeff a call.

For an '89 j-spec 2+2 twin turbo I'm looking at $350 and that's using the existing front uni.

    And now my problem.

Jeff says he would really need to take a few measurements from the same/similar model 300zx.

He does the work from his home workshop at 73 Bursaria Ave. Ferntree Gully in or around Melbourne I guess.

Can anyone with a similar zx to mine help me by dropping in to see him for 15mins?

I'm willing to throw in $30 for a carton to whoever helps me out.

    Thanks guys.

Is it possible to do a group buy on these for other states?

Would it still work out cheaper if we were to buy a 1 peice tailshaft from him and than get someone, say in Sydney to fit it for $100?

It costs around the $500+ mark for a single peice tailshaft being installed in SYdney :(
