Just thought you'd all like to see the difference between new and old trans fluid. Don't think mines been replaced in a long time (like 15 years or so :p) Also, can anyone tell me or point to a definition of the differences in what you can do to a auto trans? Like a stage I vs stage II vs stage III vs transbrake etc etc? is there a stage IV?

BTW, they're both filled to the same height in those containers

that old oil looks burnt. does it smell burnt? if so then probably no point working your VB as the box is probably stuffed or close to it.

regarding the stages on VB mods its just how firm it shifts not related to any other mods like transbrake. so a stage 3 is more agressive than stage 1 for example. there is lots of other stuff that can be done ie converter mods, transbrake, shifter, stronger parts and bands etc

Just had a sniff. Doesn't smell burnt, I assume it would be noticeable? In fact, has almost no smell, no where near as strong as the new fluid.

I needed a new solenoid at a minimum, and maybe more due to some very low damage to my pan. I thought, why not just get a built valve body at this point.

Just want to give a HUGE thanks to Paul at KEAS. I ordered a Stage III valve body - $440. I also asked for a new pan, as mine was heaps dented. Now, I told him I wasn't in a rush, take his time etc. etc. It took a month or so to arrive, no probs.

When I called him to work out payment, he told me he was sorry it took so long and said just to pay the $440 when I go to pick it up. No transport cost (from SA), no charge for new pan and he even threw in a new gasket and filter FOC.

If you need any trans work done, go through those guys. They are also very helpful. Paul must have spent 40 mins on the phone with me all up talking about options and mods available. Also, Simon at Allfast Torque Convertors (KEAS WA contact) spent 20 mins talking about high stall and others options with me and Trevor at high performance transmission in Ozzy park (sorry if I got the name wrong) also gave some useful tips. Big thanks to all the people who helped me with free advice and tips.

Yep my valve body is through KEAS and fitted by Allfast. Also got my converter modded through allfast. I am giving thought to loosing lockup and getting a real high stall, somewhere up around the 3500rpm range but havent made my mind up yet. I can launch my car hard with these mods same as dropping the clutch in a manual

My lock-up solenoid was what was wrong. I like lock-up cause with all the freeway driving I do will save me heaps in fuel costs.
