    Hi all,

New member here, recently bought a Z off a forum member (after 28 years of waiting for one! :zlove:).

Among a few things that need fixing on it, there's this cable that looks to be
    half sheared through:

It connects to the block just above & behind the passenger side tie-rod boot.
Can anyone tell me what it is & how quickly I'll need to replace it?

    Oh yeah ... 1989 N/A J-Spec Z32 2+2.

    I think...

if I'm seeing the pic properly, thats the cable that connects to the oil pressure sender unit (the little gold thing at the end connected to the block).

Are the wires exposed and damaged or just the outside rubber surround?

    Correct, oil pressure sensor wire.

I'm 70% sure it's just the rubber surround.

    well then...

if its just the surround, just get some electrical tape and wrap it around the damaged area.

If your oil pressure gauge in the car is still working, then the wires are fine. If its not, resolder the wires and get a new pressure sender while your at it because that may be knackered as well. Its quite common for them to die.

I can't really see clarity looking at the photos on the iPhone but that is indeed the oil pressure sensor wire. But also attached to the wire is a leak off tube iirc. It will come from the sensor and exit about where the separation is. I've never really explored why it's there but it's my assumption that it's a leak off tube. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Just check that the wire is ok and if so tape it up.
