yes. I can hear tin tin noise coming from passenger side. With more rev it makes more noise like a fan hitting a metal or something. Boost deosn't go up more than 10 psi. Car runs little better when cold but get worse when hot and the engine vibrates little more. Overall result: less power and laggy. Idle seems fine though. Planning for engine swap in january. But bad luck. How difficult to replace the turbo while the engine is in? If it is too difficult then I will wait until the engine swap. :(

passenger side can apparently be done.

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

Yes it can be done with engine in. But in saying that, you really should be doing both at same time as the drivers' side one probably won't be far behind it. And in that case, you definately should pull the engine to do it.

I wouldn't be driving it at all while it's at the point of making noises. This is the wheel just about to fall off!

Pull the engine, do both turbos. Much less crying and skinned knuckles that way.

Pulling the engine really isn't that hard.

Whar if you took of the intake pipe and jamed up the rotor with a rag or pulled out whats left of the compresser, hell dodgey I know but to stop the imperler from flying of intio your engine

Or if your doing a motor swap just drive it till it blows :p

Engine swap is in January. Just trying to save some money for 28rs turbos. :D
Just bad timing. Only interested to replace the turbo if possible to do it without pulling out the engine. Argggggggggggggggg:mad:

It's possible, but not fun and takes ages. I know that Ztoy has done it a couple of times with the pass side.

If you don't want to fully pull the motor you could probably jack it up high, attach a crane and drop the crossmember and lower the motor a foot or so. 3/4's of the work of pulling the motor though.

Left hand side turbo is relatively easy, we removed Mike's 28r last week with the engine still in. It didnt fit out of the car because of its size but a stocker will quite easliy. As long as you dont have little girly-man muscles like Chrispy;), you should be ok.

ha ha, i am still a child compare to you but yes checked intake hoses. it is turbo grinding noise and unbalanaced engine if rev is more than 2.2k. idle is cool and nice. just no fun to drive anymore. heading for 28rs turbo....:D

Maybe u'll get lucky with ur import from Japan! Might have some aftermarket turbs on there! I heard a story that someone paid $2k for an engine from japspec and it came with the same turbs as Simmo's!:eek::eek:

    AndyMac Better than you

Dude, the air still needs to travel through the compressor housing. If you shove a rag in there you'll wipe out a whole bank.

Passenger side turbo removal takes about 4 hours to remove.
