Ok, so I know the mods don't like it when we post up "ebay zeds". Something about our members take priority with legitimate for-sale ads. I don't think this car really competes with any cars listed by our members in the for sale section. However, it is a slicktop and it does have a rollcage! Such a shame everything z-wise is up in the air for me at the moment, would have grabbed this for a track car: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-300ZX...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:1|39:1|240:1318 Just thought i'd alert anyone wanting to build a track car (*cough*Peter Black*cough*) as this beast has no engine or gearbox, so it's pretty much open territory as to what you do with it! -Kirill
yeah saw that one while browsing the net the other day. I'd get it but then again i've already got a slicktop. If full cages could ever be safe and legal on the roads, i'd buy this, sell mine and do the TT drop in on this instead
Yeah it's a shame full cages have legality issues. Why does something that make the car safer make it illegal? Would probably be too much hassle to register that thing, but as far as a track car goes, chuck in an NA, TT, v8, v12, rb26, 2jz, etc etc, possibilities are endless.. -Kirill
if it stays around that price it's a great buy. Get a whole running engine and drivetrain for around 3,500 or so, and already a lot of mods done. Still not as good as grahams red slicktop. Dayum
i believe it's cos people don't wear helmets on the road so you could smack your head on it. Or something along those lines anyway
Looks like a good buy! $1000 in tyres there Looks like a bolt in cage that you could remove the front section for driving on the road, would be legal in QLD, possibly elsewhere. Go on Pete! Buy it! Right colour and everything Ebay adds like this are different, this is special...
ah, I assumed it would be the crumble zone :S As Crispy said, taking the front of would make it legal.
No, it's having sharp/hard objects around the head area that is the problem. Fine when you're racing with a helmet on, not so good if you have a bingle and you head smashes into it...
Not in QLD... Strictly prohibited, but removable front sections are OK (have to be removed when used on the road)
Damnit Kirill, why do you have to do this to me? I won't be looking seriously at buying anything until late this year at the soonest and I don't have anywhere to store it. It is so close to what I was imagining ending up with too. (Though I was thinking of having a motor and gearbox in my car) One down side is that I was really looking forward to doing all that sort of stuff myself, though getting a car like that as cheap as that makes up for it. Brakes don't look as upgraded as he says they are either. Still, very very tempted.
Go on...you know you want too Peter. You'll just have to stop eating or go on a diet. I'm sure that if you asked nicely, some member would have space to put it, so that you could work on it. Cheers Kerry
At that price the money is not an issue, I might have a look at storage options. Or were you hinting that I need to get even skinnier so I take up less space and therefor have more space to store the car? Or shipping it to my parent's place, they live in the country and have huge sheds. Anyone with a car trailer up for a road trip to Mt Gambier???
hire a trailer from a servo or similar. You could store it at my house down the coast if only i wasn't doing my own projects/conversion etc.
Hmmm... that was never my intention Peter. But now that you've mention it, most members keep looking for a weight saving to make their Zeds faster. Cheers Kerry
I thought as much, I don't know how much skinnier I could actually get I was told a story a while ago by someone at a motorsport shop about a very overweight man getting upset with him because he didn't have the seat he wanted in stock and the nearest equivalent was .75 kgs heavier which was apparently not good enough.
