sounds like a good plan fleming, i'd be up for a rear spoiler if sum1 took it on as a project (Are all the spoilers the same perchance? )
Are you guys sure the 90 model spoiler is unavailable OEM? Because TTzed still lists it at their site.. not cheap though! http://www.ttzed.com/products/produ...rtID=539&page=1&title=OEM Bodyparts&do=detail -Kirill
Even if it is still available, its.. a) WAY too expensive b) The same material and hence rubbish. I'd be just as intersted in a 2k spec wing btw
Cost of material is not terrriibly important here. What's important is to get a good mould that exactly follows the contour of the boot lid (and the perfect spoiler) If you do what gonz did, ie take any old spoiler, take it off the car and make a mould of that warped and bubbled spoiler plus do not bother to think through how it is to be mounted, you end up with useless crap. You really need to match the contour of the boot lid rather than a warped spoiler to make it fit nicely. Then there will be bubbles in the donor spoiler that will need to be filled in the mould. The distance between the 'wings' of the spoiler need to match the width of the boot. The bottom of the spoiler should ......... Ahh, what am I doing ? Trying to write a manual on how to make a fibre glass spoiler ?
my spoiler is in pretty tip top condition (previous owner replaced it, said it was fibreglass but i'm unsure). Might try to get back into fibreglassing and try to get a good mold from it
If you get a good one made I am happy to buy one from you, there could be a little business here for you, pay for your NA/turbo project!
If there is enough interest (and there seems to be, judging by this thread), why not have everyone chip in and buy the OEM one of TTzed's site? It's pricy, but it's brand new, so will definitely be in shape, and then it's up to the fiberglasser to create the perfect mould.. -Kirill
yeah sounds like a good plan. if we could get 60 members to donate it'd only be 20 bucks ;D (obviously there's not 60 members interested in it, but still ) If we start a poll on how many people are seriously interested in getting one we can get an estimate of how much it'd be to pitch in each
does anyone know if there is any difference between the OEM spoilers for the TT and the NA or the 2+0 and the 2+2? I'm assuming not seeing as there's only one on ttz? (for reference: http://www.ttzed.com/products/products_detail.cfm?CFID=46417835&CFTOKEN=26258079&cat=93&grouping=3&grouptitle=Nissan%20OEM&PartID=539&page=1&title=OEM%20Bodyparts&do=detail) so $1222.80 all up. If we all pitch in we cld get one ;D lol If this goes ahead who would be up for doing the fibreglassification? I'm deff up for getting one if we get over 15 people interested ;D that way its about 80 bucks a pop and we cld have a base for fibreglassing. (P.S Sorry for hi-jacking the thread )
Some shipping costs from Coz for the Zeta spoilers: 1 spoiler $195 3 spoilers $375 5 spoilers $465 All in $US
Slight confusion.. ..there's some slight confusion in that Noob brain of mine... Which models had the foam rear wing, mines an NA 90 Aus and it's plastic!!!
You may already have an after market replacement then. Not 100% sure to be honest but I thought all pre 94 models had the foam spoiler.
Some total costs: All shipped to Melbourne in $AU at today's rates (3/12/08) 1 spoiler = $832.57 3 spoilers = $2,176.38 = $725.45 each 5 spoilers = $3,377.56 = $675.52 each
yeah but if we all chipped in to get 1 spoiler and got a fiberglasser to mould it. we cld totally make our own
