Guys, Ive had my car up for sale for the past 2-3 months and guess what not one phone call. I thought about it last night and was wondering would it pay me to take it to someone with a good reputation on this forum that could give a over view of my car that I could post along side my add.
I had mine for sale for about 4 months and had the same problem. Unfortunately if you don't have something cheap, and you don't have something really special it is very hard to sell a Z at the moment The prices are terrible at the moment and the market is flooded after every importer brought in hundreds of them just before the 15year rule was canned.
I just read through your thread , as you would expect , a very high number off fourm members already have 300's. So it's going to be hard to sell it here, i know you don't want to move on your price but the way it comes across in your respones would make me feel it's not worth ringing . Your add is hard to follow , maybe take a breath and rewrite it in a point form format so all positive things standout and not run into each other. Try advertising it elsewhere, other fourms , it cost nothing just time. ross
Unless your in need off quick cash, dont drop your price, even then i wouldn't do it. If your car is in as good a condition as you say, you will sell it to somebody who knows what there looking at.
Here is my old add. Might give you some ideas on how to better lay out your add. I would ask the mods to delete your old one and make a new one up. Clicky And I don't know what Mike is talking about in regards to stickers... I can't see any, just a big Pex-esque spoiler
Be patient... it's not everyday someone will pay $14k for an 18 year old import especially with petrol prices heading towards $2/litre. As mentioned buyers are spoiled for choice at the moment so you just have to wait it out like the rest of us
Have a rethink of what you are trying to do. You are trying to sell a car, so you need to be seen as approachable and negotiable. Aggro quotes like the following will guarantee no-one will call. Good Zeds now go for $10,000 plus or minus a grand or so on a case by case basis. Unfair? Yes, but as the founder of Walmart often likes to say - the market is never wrong. I have just bought another Zed for $9,000 and it is an absolute beauty, and much further developed than the one you have on offer. A year from now prices might be very different - in either direction. Please take all of this as constructive advice.
Pretty much as above its just a bad time to sell anything at the moment. Banks are jittery given the sub prime mortgage collapse in the US and many are changing there lending criteria to make it a lot harder to get unsecured credit for things like Z's. Dont despair its happening to everyone I have my 3 year old mint suit new boat buyer 5.65m baby for sale at a tad under 30k now and nothing, a few sniffs but no one ever comes in a good market it would sell at that price 5 times over. If you can I would hold off till around march next year. Let the markets sort themselves out a bit and interest rates to stabilise and then just pray the Labour government doesnt fook it all up for us again.
agree Agree with your comments, but it gets to me when people dont even look at the car and the first thing they do is try and drive the price down. I bet there is not one person on this forum that has bought a car without looking at it first.
great advise Thanks for your feed back Chrispy, I think I will delete the add and start again. Mmmm and change the spoiler
Quite right The real trick is to get people to come and look. So rather than say "I'll die in the ditch before I drop the price", you say "Why don't you come out and have a look, and if you like the car we can have a chat?"
wrong add noob lol like some others have said, having an attitude in the add wont help, say you are negotiable and it may get more nibbles
1/ spend some time looking at what others have done in the forsale section....... You'll soon pick up on what peoples "needs" are and will be able to add the right info. 2/ Classy pics HELP !!! a pic of a car freshly polished... set in a great backdrop will help considerably when compared to a dusty car in a shity driveway with other old bombs around it ! We tried this a few years back...... Advertised a car for sale with a reasonable price on it, pics were taken in the driveway with a damaged commodore in the background with P plates on it..... Not 1 call !!!!!! a few months later....... we took the same car ( untouched ) to a scenic spot after it had a quick wash to remove the dust...... we threw buckets of water over it ( stunning wet look ) and took some awsome pics just before sunset..... We added those pics to our new addvert and doubled the price of the car Car sold the next day for $4000 MORE than we origanly asked for 3/ If you have a set price thats fine...... BUT..... everyone enjoys a bargin up your starting price slightly, then come back to your set price. Its called haggling 4/ see step 1 again Kingy
No Bites? ur def doing something wrong. Have a look at all the other zeds for sale...this is ur competition.(what makes ur car different?) Have a look at what they actually sell for ie red book, If ur not neg on ur price , ur driving potential buyers away. For 14g i hope ur selling a zed with a rebuilt motor with forgies This is buyers market i recommend adjusting ur price to reflect this. Regards Trev
