It is liberating to buy a car that doesn't kick you in the nuts and take your wallet when all you want to do is drive Saying that I'm sure if i didn't go to precise [sic] my zed experience would have been better. I'm sizing up a new car at the moment, might trade up from the WRX to a Liberty GT while I'm over in sydney. Its what the WRX would have been had I not built my house.
Now this is going to sound typical, so NA guys dont get your panties in a twist, but just about everyone I know that has owned an NA 300ZX at some stage (including myself) has had this same issue at one time or another. Sadly NA's simply cost too much money to make go fast... I'd suggest to most people with an NA to just do the suspension, exhaust and intake and simply enjoy driving it knowing that it wont be a lightning fast machine. This isn't enough for alot of people though which is fair enough. As for going with a TT now, I agree that it's going to be like starting from scratch and you'll have to do everything all over again and more. However I personally wouldn't go with an R34 because they're so damn expensive for what you get considering you can pickup an nice R32 for around 10 grand plus the R32s look better I think. If you want easy compared to the VG, the RB engine is definately for you though. Aftermarket parts are reasonably cheap, super easy to find and the engine bay is fairly open so working on it is way easier.
How about an R32 with a sunroof? lol http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/10491/1.jpg 8 grand that car is, bargain! Only 90,000kms
subarus are nice but very expensive to modify, they dont respond as well to mods as nissan engines for a few reasons. I have always liked the sequential turbo'd 2.5 legacy though.
Ahhh, don't think so. Less style, older and probably no faster. The sunroof just looks silly... Rollin' I have never seen a suby I would pay more than $5,000 for I do like the RB's, not quite as nice as the 1J and 2J engines though...
I'll always be available to help you fiddle with the Z... Might even replace that cam we bodgied up Yeah, it's for real this time. Really going to sell. Might end up with a TT, but I doubt it. Anyone else got any ideas other than suburu's?
this is quite funny actually.. i gave up on my n/a project too, i couldn't stay away from the power of honda
Honda S2000. Nice car but N/A and very quick. Bullet MX5 a bit different Toyota Chaser with a 2JZ damn nice car Honda Integra type R all N/A except the chaser but still fun cars and get looks. XR6T etc is okay if you want to be like every other bogun out there stick with some quality and buy Jap me thinks. (sorry to all ford drivers I am sure they are nice cars but a bit too common)
If you want reliability, cheap parts and easy power definitely go with the XR6T. Exhaust, tune, and larger inter cooler would easily see you ~330rwkw.
lol jason tends to forget that normal people are within a BUDGET! the idea of an mx5 though, you could definatly pick up a turbo one for that price man. and it seems right up your ally, ive got a friend who has a white one, hes always going round one of the mountins at brissy, loves the handling, it really is amazing in them little things... and for your budget you could get a turbo one! mind you it would be older, but IMO they still look hot, the newer ones come out stock turbod but theyr pretty exy.
Yeah get an MX-5 so we can tease you about driving a girls car, and hear how uber fast it is on the auto-x track everyday like all MX-5 owners who wont shut up about! LOL
 NSX... I wish I had the money, you better bring one on a cruise so I can sit in it and make "broom, broooom" noises Don't think a MX-5 is for me. Apart from being a girls car, it's completely impractical. Anyway my little sister is buying one soon. Don't really want a R32, bit too old. I know they are fast, quite a few friends of mine drive them. But they have similar problems to the Z, turbo problems, thrashed and they're old! Can't be bothered looking for a good one and the interiors are really pov-spec. I'd much rather a TT Zed.
I know exectly how you feel , its all the little things that are starting to piss me off . Like rattles and lifting trim and squeeling brakes to name only a few . Sure they can all be fixed but at what cost and effort , when is enough ENOUGH !!!! I feel I am throwing good money after bad . I went for a drive tonight to see the Moon thing (boring) anyway and identified at least 10 things that pissed me off about my car , like an itch that cant be scratched .
Thanks Chris, if (when?) the allen key (which is holding my intake cam gear in place) snaps i know who to call
Chrispy if i was in your situation, seriously i'd go for a Supra RZ if you want a change from the Z32 scene. If you wanted another Z32 a 95 TT will fit the bill perfectly.
