Do these come with any sort of warranty? I have also heard many bad things about walbro pumps failing.
I just spoke to my mechanic about them(as I am in need of one sooner then I thought), and he said they are an easy fit even without the kit, and that he hasn't heard any problems about them. I'm definitely up for one Jason, any chance you might be able to get one at that price or close to, sooner?
I need a new pump and controll unit. From what i read your saying that you fit this and then the controll unit bypassed. Does this mean you dont use the FPCU at all??? im confused. If your bypassing the FPCU and the voltage is constant then the FPCU is redundant right??? Therefore saving me buying a new FPCU??? If thats the case is there any negative implications ie- more fuel usage as the unit is constant at 13volts??? Cheers -Pete
No you won't need a FPCU with this pump. No you won't use more fuel as the fuel pressure regulator set's the pressure and the ECU sets the flow of fuel you need to run the engine, not the fuel pump. I think Nissan was just trying to be tricky with the FPCU and make it quite at idle.
Put me down for one then... im in. Will it be really loud as mine buzzes like hell at the moment. I can hear it above my zorst at the moment. Cheers -Pete
Fuel pumps Some info for everyone interested. At UAS we have never had a prob with these Walbro pumps. The only problem we have had is with customers fitting and or setting them upincorrectly, or bought what they thought was same Walbro pump off Ebay or other internet businesses and not doing the job. Like Zed AFM form Ebay most do not work. Also keep in mind this is a full fitting kit with fitting and wiring advice and instructions. We have sold literally hundreds of these pumps, ordering twenty at time quite often. We mainly sell or fit them to Sylvia's and Skylines, and have seen up to 360rwkw and heard form a local workshop in Sydney 400rwkw on R33 with big 3 litre engine. I think these egnines are over what you should push them to though. Fitting and wiring and pressures are important with these pumps and need to be set upright. If not they could be a problem. I have heard of people making brackets and running two on big hp cars that don't want to go to external noisy pumps. Correct in most applications they may not flow much more than a new factory one although I am sure if you tested ten they relatively small in size, they perform very well in our tests. We use a stop watch, battery wired to pump sitting in bucket of fuel and a cotnainer with measuring scale. We measure how much they flow in a minute and multiply by 60 to get litres an hour. They come up not far at all behind Nismo, Tomei ( Nippon Denso larger size in tank pumps. 'We have used and tested many of the Bosch pumps and all the in tank ones do not flow very well at all and not as good as these Walbro. Teh 044 external pumps are great and I use two of them on the Slot Car but noisy and not suitable for zeds as can't run a surge tank in the boot and also get fuel smell etc. Getting a new and good fuel pump is cheaper than replacing motors and zeds factory pumps if above factory hp can and do show up on our dyno as not coping as we find little to no return flow on dyno under load. If in doubt get your car checked out on dyno. Although this is no guarantee as if old pump may play up a week or month later.
Most of it Johno is that the voltage drops below the required range and the pumps burn out. Or they are copies and dont last. I hear and read stories but always try the gear before I even look at selling it or setting up GB's etc like the radiators and AFR gauges etc. I certainly can ask the question Mike might be a little more though but hopefully can still get you a good deal Hi Pete mine is actually quieter than my old pump. The old one was noisy during that initial prime stage and even noisy a bit while running. The Walbro I can only just hear during priming and not at all while running.
