A mate of mine has a VK commode w/ a 327 and 3 speed auto that does 105Kph in 1st, 170 in second and is off the clock in 3rd... he used to drive around the city in 1st...And yes, I've seen it, and driven it and it is real. Wouldn't do 120 in 1st though; it would disintegrate first....Cheers, PHB.
Maybe the NA could get away with a first as low as that, but it would kill the 'off the line' acceleration of the TT. The M21 was designed for largish capacity V8s, which have buckets of torque straight off idle.

The 'old' stuff is not as bad as some people tend to think, and a few examples could show a clean pair of heels to a Zed or two.
yes i would belive it my brothewr had a vb commie that was worked (fro the strip) 308 out to 366 and endless lisst of mods, 125 in firs easy!!!but like i said it was built for the strip, although it was street driven daily ( he's a bit of a head case, sold it and the guy who bought it wrote it off in a week
