Hope you guys can help me out I'm stumped.

    Car audio
my new amplifier isn't recieving any power eg, won't turn on.
I have full voltage from the battery and the earth is good.
I ran a new remote wire and a new earth wire just to be sure.
I checked fuses at the battery, drivers foot well, head unit and on the amp, all seem to be fine.
The amp setting on the head unit is turned to ON.
Iv used a test light and all current is being delivered correctly.
I used a different amp and head unit that was working for six months for confirmation and same result.

Anyone got any ideas to as why my amp is not picking up the signal ?

    Any help would be great.

make sure there is no shorts anywhere even in the speaker cable, a short can trigger the safety mode forthe amp.

I didn't use the original car audio harness and ran new cable to each individual speaker with proper pressed connectors at the speaker terminals and all wires behind the head unit. Iv double triple checked that the power, constant power, remote and earth are all connected right. All speakers run fine as they are not amped yet and are just running off the head unit.
The amp is just for the sub, but if I can't get that sorted then I can't run a 4 can for the speaker.

When I said new I actually meant is my mates that I bought. Iv seen this amp perform for a while now in his car and I know there is nothing wrong with it. I put my other amp back in and that wouldn't turn on either. So the problem I think is that there is a brake down somewhere along the line or the head unit decided to stop out putting to the amp.
I might re wire my old head unit back up and see if I get a signal.

What head unit have you got. It might just be another stupid setting in that's if it's new. I would out the old one back in that yiu know works and find out if it's the head unit or amp then work from there. Are any lights coming up on the amp (if it has any). And fuses on the amp? Mine has 3 so could be any of those?

You can isolate the issue to the remote wire by bridging the 12v and the remote on, on the amp to force the amp to turn on.

i replaced both 25amp fuse on the amp so it couldn't be that
in using the sony XAV-AV1 head unit and the amp is a pioneer.
Thats super nice of you to offer but i live 40 min north of Brisbane.
im gonna swap head units tonight and see what i get

    According to the Sony website:

There are no matching results for XAV-AV1.

so your getting power down from the battery? Use the test light to confirm with the ground attached to the ground lead your using for the amp.
If its not that id say its the system wire. Try using another 12v ignition source.

I bridged the power and the antena on the amp and the blue light came on straight away but no audio would come through leaving me now thinking it's the antena pin in the head unit wiring harness. I'm going to buy another harness tomorrow and see if that sorts it other wise it's the head unit itself and I'll just have to rock my old one for a while.

Do you have two blue wires from the head unit? One with a trace? Sometimes the remote wire is bundled with the antenna wire but othertime you'll have two. This is done so that the amp is always on and power antennas go up when the radio is on but down when using cd MP3 etc

From the sounds of things you're also using a plug in adapter harness and it may not be correctly pinned. I find its always better to test all wires and splice into them still leaving stock plugs if you ever want to return to stock.

Also if you can get the amp on now but was still not getting sound you can double check its working by using an 3.5mm to RCA interconnect to play some music of a phone or MP3 player. If not then you may also have an issue with your RCAs

    Hey thanks for replying
Lim not using an adaptor harness right now I'm running the stock head unit wiring. I just thought I'd get a new wiring harness because I don't know how old this one is.
You are correct their is two blue wires one is solid blue and the other is blue/white. Solid blue being radio and blue/white being amp antena. I have the remote wired to the blue/white

Playing music straight off my phone to the amp (interesting) never thought of that.
Iv got some plugs so I'll give it a go.
