    Hi George,
As far as I can tell it's a no name fabbed up system.

    Sorry,
I should have also mentioned currently the front half (dumps/test pipes) are standard, but then merge into a single 3.5" system. It does sound very nice and I hope I can keep a similar sound when the new engine and front section go in. A friend driving behind me on the weekend said he saw a small flame as I was boosting through some twisties :)

Nothing exciting to report. I took the cluster out today to check it out. It's actually quite a bit different to the older series. The clear face does not pop free of the surrounding. The black face over the dials actually floats and lifts off once the cluster is pulled apart. I also checked the odometer while it was apart and it too is different. I didn't think to take a pic but there is no easy way to wind it back, unlike earlier model.

Anyhow I'll throw some pics up so it's not so boring. This pic illustrates well the true colour of the dials, they are not white.

I also cleaned the engine this morning. Even though I have a replacement to go in, I thought I'd give it a quick once over.

I also bought some expensive, but cool Injen air filters. They are a dry type and don't require oiling. I got them as they are forward facing filters and cope with taking air front on. They are also blue  * If anyone wants a new K&N filter(s) cheap, PM me.

I also remember someone requesting a pic of the late model window switches, so here you go.

Surprised at you putting the Selin sticker on :p

When's the new engine going in? Get all that over ported BS sorted out?

I dropped the heads off before Easter. Contacted them last week to see what the status was, hoping they've been done & ready for picking up. But sadly no, they haven't even started on them! Apparently they are going to weld them this coming week. I just hope it all goes back together & the custom inlet gaskets I'll need to make don't leak.

I'm really not a fan of making custom gaskets for what is in reality a mild build. Not like we are talking a 1000hp monster.

I would prefer to have used stock gaskets myself. But what's done is done & this is the easiest/cheapest solution. Hopefully it will have a happy ending.

I just bought another house this weekend & with another baby on the way I am starting to realise this project might stall badly. Not only will the funds no longer be available, neither will my time.

So that said I am toying with the idea of selling the forged long block. Still not sure if I really want to sell or not, so if you are interested while I'm vulnerable PM me - No time wasters please.

    Question

If you are only allowed to import z'ds up to 97 from Japan. And aus spec only went to 96. How the hell did you get a 2000 model?
Forgive my ignorance but I am a little curious.

    Hello Munted.
There is another way to import a car & that is under the Personal Import rules. Basically you need to have lived and owned the car in the country in which it was purchased for at least a year. Then you are allowed to import it with you if you move to Australia.

Quite an endeavor :p Bet it's pretty sweet though, one of very very few driveable 2000s in Aus.

Bloody delays!!! I rang the joint doing my heads & they STILL haven't touched them! I dropped them off before Easter, over two months ago. If they are not started next week I'm grabbing them back & getting someone else to do the work.

In other news the purchases of another property is official. So I'm currently working out the finances & there will not be the cash to throw at the Z now. I just hope there will be enough to get this engine in and running!

I'm keen to move into the new place, a date hasn't been set yet. There is a list of things I want to do to it, but they are small. Like adding a door in the hallway, painting garage floor & lots of other small jobs. It has a nice double garage as well as a shed at the end of the driveway that has its own wood heater and toilet - Very cool

I just hope I can get the Z in/out of the driveway. If not it can be redone, but don't really have the funds so fingers crossed.

Looks great Jono.....having the separate garage means you have somewhere to run while you have two babies screaming their heads off in the house lol

    Front bar Pic...

I know you have discussed changing your front bar, and I was a fan of that discussion...HOWEVER, I found this pic on 300zxclub. This bar looks very nice here and the skirts with the vent really match the vents on the front bar. Might be the same kit, I dont know, but this combo works very well.
