Sitting at the lights, light goes green, Landcruiser behind me puts the boot in and rams his bullbar straight into the back of my Zed. Claims "I didn't see you as you car was so low".

Didn't see me cause it was low? Then how the **** did you know to stop behind me for the duration of the red light then you dickhead? More like "Sorry I was on my phone and not paying attention".

Pretty confident they will try and write it off :(

doesnt look like much damage but if they write it off try get it done as a repairable write off, and buy the car back from them with a cash payout aswell...

then fix it shouldnt cost much pending not much damage under the skin/behind the bar etc...

Didn't see you , W.T.F lucky it wasn't some kid that was to small to see. The mr.s rang me 2 days ago to say she came back to her Honda and some arse hole in a 4wd had backed into it making a mess of the bonnet. They left there 4wd there with pieces of her car attached and went inside and shut the gate. W.T.F she took photos and got one of the solicitors at work to come up. He talked to neighbours who said they do it all the time and are just plain nasty people that cause a lot of trouble. She went to the local cop shop and it was just to much trouble for them ( your taxes at work ). She won't tell me where they live as she knows how i deal with these type of people. I went looking in the area ( well to do suburb ) looking for pieces of her car on the ground last night to beat the living shit out of them. No luck and she still won't tell me exactly where they live. As i said to her people like that keep on doing it because people like her let them get away with. If i get hold of them they will not be in any shape let alone dare do this to anyone again. I have patience in getting even so i will find out eventually. She contacted her insurance company yesterday and because she has the cars details there is no excess so i guess that something good. Now just to get hold of the M.F and beat them to an inch of there life.

Itd just be market value as I only have third party as I couldn't justify $1200 a year for a car that cost me $5000.

In hindsight, a poor choice >.>

that's balls man, a real shame and a real wanker of a driver by the sounds.
Be careful about the insurance company, without a third brake light it might not be road legal. I had a mate who got smashed and didn't get covered because he had modded his car to an "unsafe and illegal level" to be fair it looked illegal from 100 meters away, but that was his choice, now he drives an oldschool lancer because he cant afford much else

Pretty sure there's one out of the picture at the top of the windscreen (hint: if not, GET ONE ASAP!)

From the pics it doesnt look that bad. tailgate looks ok

    New rear bar,
new rear reo, & taillights, centre panel.
Dint pulling, filling and painting would be the most costly bit i would imagine.

But im no panel beater, just doesnt look overly bad..

But it sucks if it is a write off :(

Hatch appears fine and still opens.

Doesn't look like it made it to the floor pan.

Both quarter panels, rear bumper, rear reo bar, tail lights, centre panel, beaver panel, number plate lights at a glance.

Car is still perfectly fine aside from the cosmetic damage, it's just a case of will they bother to fix it vs it's market value?

My good man, this helps no one. After they recover, they'll just chalk the beating up as road rage and justify away their poor driving and attentiveness. I feel that etching "warning: I drive like an asshole" across the front, back and sides with something very sharp is far more effective. Not only that, but you're also being a good citizen and pointing out a hazard to others on the road, plus it costs them a whole lot to fix and you're very unlikely to be charged with anything.

Rear ended at a set of lights.

Obviously the other party is liable.

I say this often in these threads.
You have more rights then you realise, if the other party is insured you have no agreement to accept market value, or permit them to simply write-off your vehicle.

Well they want to write it off so on Monday I get to start arguing value so I can get it replaced.

    If you're claiming...

...on the other parties insurance don't let them push you around.

It's not unreasonable for you to insist they fix it.

    Good luck mate. :)

If they give me a good enough pay out then I'll take it, but Im not going to be lowballed for $3k or something stupid. I had a perfectly good zed before he hit me (Only roadworthy and rego'd 6 months ago) and Im not accepting anything less than a replacement zed.

I am pretty sure that if you open the hatch/ boot and check the floor of the wheel arch spare thing any creases in here and they have to do a half cut and shut and its a write off, but your choice to buy it back, or make them fix it

    Just saying...

..if they're insured you're not forced to accept market value.

People seem to think they must accept market value when they're not to blame, this is not true less you're claiming against your own insurance... you are entitled to be compensated fairly.

Whatever they first offer you, knock it back and insist on more. :zlove:

I'll be demanding 6.5k as that what it would realistically cost for me to go out and buy a replacement stock TT that I can just take in and register. Especially as mine had a genuine 158k on the clock.

WOW looks like mine did.. my zx got a fair whack like that but on the driverside rear.. yours doest look as bad as mine did as all my rear lights was totally smashed rear bar ripped right off and both driver and passenger rear 1/4 guards are rippled. i didnt even let the insurance company near mine and just did a home fix.. although you can still tell it has been hit as my driver side rear tail light sits on a bit of a strange angle.. i was less than 2 mins from my house and just drover the car home.. police nad insurance was never informed as the 4x4 that plowed over my z barely even had a scratch.. i just rang around and found new lights and rear bar and sent the guy the bill of 900 which he happily paid so he didnt have all the hassles of dealing with his insurance.. admittedly my car does look like s**t but its still my z.. I do hope yours can be saved and not a write off
