Hi Anyone know where the best place is to buy ganador super mirrors from? (the cheapest place I guess) From what I've read - The super ganadors have lights in them whereas the ganadors dont. I dont care whether there originals or replicas - as long as they fit - whereas the americans have a different size and they dont fit. Thanks Jamie - for linda
There is no difference between the dimensions of the body on a US Z32 and AUS/JPN versions(except 2+2 vs 2+0)therefore, any mirror that fits in the original position, will fit all models. The only difference may be in the angle of the Drivers side mirror/glass on LH Drive vs RH Drive.
That's not quite correct. USDM/LHD mirrors (or mirrors made for the USDM market) don't fit our JDM/RHD Zs. The triangle bit is slightly different.
All original ganadors will fit straight up to a jap/aus spec zed, ganadors were never made for the north american market. If you have a little search on the american forums owners complain how ganadors only come with rhd mirrors so they're pretty useless for them, basically just a cosmetic mod. As far as I know ganadors also don't come with built in indicators.
i'm pretty sure the ganadors you see with LEDs in them are shitty aftermarket ones. go on eBay, you can get them for like eighty bucks. they'll take a lot of modding to fit, as one member here found out. as in, he had to cut the mounts off of his OEM mirrors and glass/bog the cheap ones on, mucho labour if you don't do it yourself. get genuine, sod the lights. I just won a genuine pair on yahoo! japan for $150 (a remarkable steal when fakes go for 300+ here) second hand, all thanks to jesse streeter http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u36499440 if you want it to be easy, just order from this eBay seller (pretty sure they're legit)
Super Ganadors are genuine 2nd generation mirrors with lights Hi Just to confirm what I've already found out via my studies - lol Yeh - the triangle is different on the US versions and the angle is different as stated. The americans use an M3 base (thats what the base mount is called). There are millions of these types of copies out there - but they are distinguishable (by the base being labelled as an M3 type) (so M3 is a no no for aus Z's) Your correct the ganadors were only made for the Jap/Aus market and hence why they are slightly out of alignment in angle when used on left hand drives The Ganadors with the mirrors (Super Ganadors) are made by the original manufacturer (says there website anyway!) and so they are not copies as such but a 2nd generation ganador, however there are many copies around that look the same now. Ganadors look pretty good - but super ganadors really look great, I am even contemplating making my own base for the copies lol - at least I get the lights as well then and at a fraction of the cost and then I have a base for others as well. oh, those ones. I hate them, they angle up stupidly and look like elf ears. Plus, once they're functional to not be a tool you'd have to shave your fenders or get some indicator-free USDM ones.
Anyone done a mould already or know anyone? Yeh - the "elf style" is also called the european style and was an original copy of the BMW M3. OMG - there not that bad - lol They are functional as they have a high position viewing angle (thats what mirrors are supposed to do - lol) Already got slim aero's they look ok - make it look a bit like a rocket - but there not really that functional because there too small and close gotta say - these cheapies from the US I got conned into before - look pretty bloody good - they look like carbon fibre - you have to feel the plastic to know the difference there that good in looks - just the base is stuffed (which means the angle is too given its a LHD mirror in reverse again -lol) but there not that elf eared as you put it lol - more like a lower M3 look - closer to stock but not as wide! I might do this mould thinking about it, at least if if it gets broken it'll only cost me $50 for two - lol - then have a mould for others as well. Just have to get the angle right I guess. Or does anyone already know anyone that has a mould to convert the US mirror M3 Base to the Aus/Jap Base already ??? You could probably sell a few of these - lol lot cheaper than $700 - you would've thought the japs or chinese would've already jumped onto this somewhere as its a conversion piece of plastic - lol Cheers Jamie (misszens other half)
I'm not a big fan of that style of mirror(but that's a personal choice). I still need to be convinced that the triangular base is a different shape. That would require the Windscreen Pillar angle, Door Glass, T-Tops AND Body Shell to be different to all other examples sold around the planet, as it is a major re-design exercise(hugely unlikely IMHO).
Not neccesarily, just the door if the leading edge of the triangle was the same I however have no opinion if they are different, never had to compare.
Jamie if you will be making moulds for the bases i would like to get 2 sets, as i have a pair of ebay CF M3 look mirrors but the base plate i have is wrong or too small as there is a gap where there shouldnt be...as the mirrors themselves are universal, its just the base plates that are different... The spiel on Nengun.com... "Designed for RHD vehicles as sold in Japan, may not be suitable for LHD depending on the model" implies that there may be a difference. I don't know either way.
I got both, as usual. Whilst I was waiting for the group buy to come through I scored a set of genuine ones. The copies we put on enigma's zed. Copies. By gargoyle123 at 2011-01-03 Real deal. By gargoyle123 at 2011-08-31 The only difference is that the genuine ones fold in if you hit them. The copies are solid. No problems fitting them either. I was looking at the ones with indicators in them but they look cheap, probably because they are.
