Look under Fuel in the Tech section and then under Fuel smells/leaks (Petrol Cap).

If the filler is brazed, then you may need a new neck.

they put in a new filler neck restrictor during compliance and it can leak (especially during hard right turns). you need to pull it out and seal it using a sealant that is fuel safe. I used a hard setting 2-part sealer called "selleys knead it". pull out the restrictor, clean up any old sealant and put some of the selleys knead it around the neck and the restrictor and push it back in and it will set hard and seal it up.
also check to see if the seal on the fuel cap is intact.

see mine doesnt actually leak petrol, just has lots of fumes coming from that area.........ive checked under bonnet and there are no petrol fumes under bonnet so it has to be the fuel filler, doesnt it?

and the tech article gives less than no detail at all, i need specifics man lol!!!:zlove::rofl:

Have you tried a different OEM cap? Is the caps rubber sealer intact?

Have you got a local Mech who you can get the neck to and do a smoke test on it for leaks?

go around a right hand corner fairly quick, then check for leaking fuel. fuel evaps really quick. do it with a fullish tank. if it leaks reseal it or replace neck.

You can get smoke machines to test for leaks. My mech has one, that's how I found the hole in mine.

What i did i tried selastics and fuel glue then i tried a product its steel like product in a soft blue tac type product all you do is take out the filler neck give it a good clean around the rim and neck then grab a small piece of putty and warm it up in your fingers then apply on your filler neck pressing it on then push onto the neck firmly hold for about a minute dont try and drive around..let it settle (harden up) and i have not had leak since its been nearly six months

should be pretty obvious where the leak is coming from.. go stick your head under there. might even be the filler pipe that leads 2 the tank from memory it has a couple clamps that can loosen. if the fuel restrictor is leaking they are usually loose and u can move them... are u still getting some WOOSH when u remove the lid???

poor white Z being neglected in favor of the yellow SLUG :(

very small whoosh on cap removal....no obvious leaks anywhere that i can see, only fumes....waving a match in the area revealing nothing(kidding)

I bought Sellys Knead It. Should do the trick.

I've also used selleys knead it before on unrelated projects. You can get it from Mitre 10 or Bunnings or any hardware store. Other brands than Selleys also make it, it's pretty common. It may also be labelled as metallic cement. It sets very hard in about an hour and it can then be sanded, drilled, etc. :p Very handy stuff to have lying around ;)
