Good on them for taking credit for a retrim that cost someone several thousand dollars.

I like the sound of this one http://cgi.ebay.com/LEATHER-SEAT-COVER-NISSAN-SKYLINE-R32-R33-R34-300ZX-S13-/260577226288?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cab9cee30#ht_8083wt_1190

Hi Guys, I've actually bought the full leather kit that this guy (Max) sells. He's not good on the communications side of things... but the gear did all turn up. However, he shouldn't be using words like "leather" or even "reborn leather" in his ad... It's very much a 'leather-look' product but it's certainly NOT LEATHER. As far as whether or not it's a good value product, I got front & rear seat covers, gear shift & handbrake boots + 3sqm of the product which is aparently enough to cover all original material covered trims - delivered for $820. I haven't even got started with it yet - damn big (no, huge) job... The biggest challenge is avoiding bunching-up around corners. Would love to see pics of anyone's interior who has already fitted Max's "leather" & are you happy with it???

Just to confirm.....is Max "Proseat". This add definitely states that premium leather is available on request. Did you ask for "reborn leather" or premium leather??

Yes, 'Max' is definetly "ProSeat". And yes, though Max does reckon that he can also supply top quality Italian Leather, he never bothered sending me any samples like he said he would. I did go with the "reborn leather" because he reckoned it offered so many advantages over the Italian Leather - but my point is - his "reborn leather" simply is not leather at all. If fact is got 'Nylex' stamped all over the other side of it - and Nylex make hoses, etc - not leather!

The add says that fitting is easy and that complete instructions come with it. I did expect that it would be a huge job (as you have stated), what I would like to know is how true the other statements are? Are the instructions clear and easy to follow?? How easy is the fitting process? Do you know what the cost would be for real leather?

When I let Max know how pissed off I was that his product had been described as 'leather' or 'reborn leather', he offered me the same products in Italian Leather for $1400. I said that's fine with me because I'll put his Nylex stuff in some other Z but I wanted the real McCoy for my own Z. But first I wanted samples - he never sent me any... I wasn't asking to return what I'd bought or swap it - I just wanted to buy 'real leather' & he never sent me samples. As for the instructions - never got any of those either but he does reckon they're somewhere on his website. I went with the light cream and I will get around to fitting what he sent me but not on my 'keeper'. As for his other statements on his Ad, I'm not going to waste my time reviewing it. I'm not saying that what I received for $820 was a bad or even ordinary deal - actually I think it was a good deal. But if it comes from a hose company, if it doesn't exactly look like leather and it certainly doesn't smell anything like leather - he shouldn't F*<#!^G refer to it as leather! Well that's what I recon anyway.

Oh yeah, and there's no two ways about it - if you're recovering the seats & all of the material covered trims - it's going to be a huge, pain-in-the-arse job (with our without instructions!).

LOL....I just want to know if I (never done this type of thing before) will be able to do it, or will I get half way through, give up and sell the Z at auction so I never have to face it again:rolleyes:

I would just like to say that Proseat have featured a photo of my zed..HOWEVER, I only got the seats done from them (that's if Proseat = Maxfromaus)..in the photo it states that "console and under dash panels" were also done..which is FALSE!

I bought and fitted proseat covers to my zed they are in know way shape or form leather!!
The stated waiting period of (I think 2 weeks) after repeated phone calls blew out to about
12 weeks.I did not get the correct colour I ordered but have warmed to the colour I did get.
Fitting the seat covers is quite difficult, I left them in the hot N.T sun for half an hour so I could stretch them without ripping the seams. Doing the rest of the trim is an absolute bitch, spray contact unfortunately does just that, sticks on contact making it extremely difficult to move the trim around remove bubbles etc. But!!! it looks good.

i have not used this product before but i have done upholstering of some parts of my z and did my panel van in my younger days(sorry no pics).
It is not all that hard to do,it just takes time and patience.if you find it all too hard take a break and come back to it another day.Dont try to get it all done in an afternoon or you will be dissapointed with the result.
i have used thick clark rubber standard run of the mill vinyl and have had no real issues with it and i would imagine that the product you are using would be thinner and easier to use.if your pieces are not pre cut make sure you make them at least an 30mm bigger on all sides than you need in case you screw up with your alignmentand cutting.I use a contact adhesive coating both surfaces with a paint brush then wait about 10 minutes before bringing the surface together.(label says up to 40 minutes)if you bring the surfaces together too soon you will fight trying to get them to stick down.Thinner materials should not be an issue. Most of your edges will be tucked under or hidden under other trims so you do have room for error.
The hardest thing i see is pulling the trims off the car.

Don't get me wrong, if done well, Max's product will look great - and it's not a dud or over-priced product. I was only pissed off that I thought I was buying a leather based product - and it isn't. I would have preferred real leather & had Max been a little more honest, I would have paid the extra up front to get the real leather. If you buy his 'reborn leather' & take your time, considering what the kit cost, I'm sure most would be very happy with the result (but not if you thought you were buying a mostly leather product).

Look closely at the ad - he uses the word "leather" at the top but deeper down he moves to firstly "leather look" and then "semi leather".

Despite all the hype, I don't believe there is any leather at all in this product. Just vinyl by some cute marketing name.
