front bar doesnt need to come off for headlights. i'll be putting mine under the nose panel too i guess, not sure if the ballasts take to engine bay heat very well but i know plenty of people leave the ballasts in the engine bay. it doesn't need to come off to install HID's but how do you get access to the rear bolts with the front bar still on? I guess you could do it through the indicator hole but what a PITA
ye indicator hole and wheel well i think, from memory. with a small ratchet and long extension its not too tricky. and those clicky ring spanners are handy too

put me down as a tentative at the moment. Im looking at the gadgetmaster kits from WA but from talking to a couple of people that have gone the cheaper & ebay kits they work just aswell.... Id be looking at the 35W H11 6000K if available. Ive driven a few different cars with them and 35W is plenty for low beam lights. Also Ive found the higher kits (8000k+) not much advantage for night driving, especially in rain. Also a bit of info ADR stipulates that HID's must be self leveling and have automatic washers. So anyone who worries about legalities or being defectable thats what you need to know.
So its not roadworthy to have hids in our zeds? Well just remember to keep your halogens in the shed again this is a very serious EOI at this stage and the GB will be going ahead soon i hope definitely going ahead this month from the interest So any experienced GB guys, would there be a tax issue?
That is correct, not completely legal, but people hardly ever get defected for them... If it's under $1000 then you'll be fine. If it's coming from Hong Kong then it will probably be marked as a gift with a value of $3 They normally coming in reasonably large boxes, are you getting them all sent to you, or to someone in each state?
What the story with replacement globes for these HID kits? Are they available locally or do we need to import them too? Or dont they blow very often?

So far i've found that 55W ballasts are NOT available as slims, and bi-xenons are NOT available for H3 or H1. EDIT: Slim ballasts are also about $12-13 more than regular ballasts. So feel free to change your list Xenon globes last at least twice as long as halogens and they are available locally. Still have to work out how postage will work out. I can send it all to myself, then nominate someone in each state, but taxes may undo this project. Or send multiple shipments out which i worry the vendor may mix up or be more costly. Also with smaller packages to each state may work better to dodge taxes. At the moment, because of the size of the order, its looking like a whole pallet headed my way! i'd say ship the whole lot to yours, then charge the extra $8 or so to send them individually to the buyer (add this to the price - etc. $45 for the unit + 8 postage.

Youre coming with me to deliver some of the melbourne kits Looking at about $55 for standard and ~$65-68 for slims to your door at the moment (partly crap exchange rate), but working towards bringing that down as you may as well import individually on ebay for that money.
