OK the guy who did the SR20det conversion.....on my exa back a few years ago is the same guy as Moula is talking about....Chris and Ken were the owner....the guy you know has been there for ages....he used to have a off guts VK...probably the scariest thing i have ever been in. They tuned my car with a microtech back then and i can vouch for the work.....this car ****ing was extremely tough and the tuning made a HUGE difference. Not sure how they go and the VG's but i was happy with their work on the SR20 I am in to get it tuned by them and would recommend the work. They are very very busy testament to their reputation out that way. Only downfall with them was all the hidden costs that kept popping up from the conversion that they should have disclosed!
I think you have has a mis communication with MRC. Im sure he wont be charging that if you supply your own boards. Call and ask him again that all he is required to do is tune it etc... He does quality work from experience and an awesome Nistuner. His got a deep purple Z there which was pulling around 275rwkw with stock turbos, dumps, manis etc. Now running 330rwkw @ 14psi or so on nistune with bigger turbos. I wouldn'nt trust backyard jobs when it comes to tunning because your engine can go boom, god forbid like some members. My 2 cents :zlove:
Yes, Mark had definitely calculated that price with us supplying our own boards It has to be, considering drive in drive out is $1,100 - so subtract about $250 which is what he charges for the board & you get $850 which is exactly what he quoted me Cheers
I got MRC to dyno my Z his tune was spot on. He knows NISTune ECU settup & 300ZX Turbos. It was done 2 years ago with no tune or ecu problems.
I agree which is why the place I suggested is no 'backyarder' and considering i've seen results from this guy's work first hand he certainly seems to know how to tune RBs, and from what I read prior, SRs, so given his track record I feel comfortable putting my car in his hands. On the MRC note, really the only reason I held off on getting a Nistune board was when Mark told me it'd be around $1200 for installing and tuning my car with Nistune, I immediately backed off that idea. I thought he was giving me a good price because everyone else I spoke to mentioned he does great work which I agree with. But when I started poking around on my own about Nistune, was shocked to find out how huge a price premium Mark was charging. For that reason, in roughly two weeks time I will have a Nistune'd car, not in 2 years like the original plan was. MoulaZX
Aye, same UAS ended up doing mine for cheaper I think $960 or $990 or so supplying board and install and tune, fair bit cheaper than MRC.... Maybe see what a group install price is for those, also get a group price for tuning
