So I ended up getting bolts from Nissan direct. $63 dollars later I was back on track. Until I realised that the plastic alignment tool that came with my Xtreme Clutch was the wrong one and I couldn't line up the clutch 100% :bash: So I'm going to either: Call Image Auto parts or Xtreme clutch and ask for a an Alignment tool or just try to buy a universal one. As the clutch was again blocked by tool/part failure I moved onto installing the master cylinder and clutch pedal. And I found something interesting. It looks like there is a piece of metal covering the hole where the clutch master goes in. From the engine side you can see a piece of metal with sealant around it from factory. But from the inside you can see a thin outline on the firewall of the right hole. For those that have one the swap before: Did you just cut a hole in the firewall or did you try to remove little panel in the front.
The panel is held in by sealer and possibly a spot weld. U can just bust it out with a lever from the engine bay side
Can I just lever it out without causing much damage? What I don't want to do is: a.) make too large a hole for the clutch master b.) dent the firewall.
Well at least the clutch is finally in. I got sent the wrong alignment tool so I had to wait until the new one was sent out. But after much humming and hawing - the damn clutch is in. I used a ghetto method of stopping the flywheel from spinning, just used the auto flywheel and wedged it between the body and the manual flywheel  worked a frigging treat though! Also got my new clutch master and exhaust manifold. Can finally get that in over the weekend after I make a hole in my car. Now I just need that braided clutch line! Still looking for that.
I know it can be a bit of a task to achieve if youve never seen it done before, but its not a hard process overall to convert one... whats going on now? If its that cover plate i just got a sharp stanley knife blade and carved around the cover plate. cutting away the bond between the sealant and the metal. Then got a long flat head screwdrive and wedge it between to open the gap. Then from the inside under the dash with a drift and decent hammer. Smacked it off. Came away pretty well. and without too much blood loss.
Cheers guys. I was just frustrated after a long day with no results. Ended up just drilling through with my dremel. Actually quite straight forward just time consuming. Problem now is mounting the clutch pedal, thing wouldn't go in and it's looking like I'll have to take the dash out to get the pedal in.
persevere with it. i put in a tt pedal and booster assy with the dash assembled. took a bit of effort but went in, in the end.
Bit of both really. I recall having to separate the assy a little to allow it to bend and wiggle into position. But yeah was just a trial and error sort of job up until it slotted in.
So while under the dash I noticed a small amount of old dried up water under the heater core. As the dash is coming out should I replace it as a precaution?
