i just want to confirm that when installing two MAF sensors on a dual intake setup that the second MAF sensor is just wired in parallel with the existing one? cheers
Either one of these, http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=3986 or some Apexi SAFC doo dad.
thanks guys... i had read a couple of time about just splicing them together and didnt think it sounded right! i'll just make a summing amplifier up for the 0-5v sensor outputs. cheers
Thanks since i dont have the "thanks" button on my profile as i havent posted enough on the forum, i am thanking you this way instead, hope this doesnt upset the mods, but i am not abusing the system, i just wanted to thank brisz for his info.
2nd. Easiest way to do it. You're kind of right, nida - sorta. But don't need to do any amplifier mod. Keep it simple. Do you have an AFC? Do you already have the dual intake components - 2nd MAF, elbows, couplers and second pop charger? Basically only 2 ways to go about it. Selin or the AFC. If the Selin is too rich for your blood, than you're going to have to spring for an AFC. A good AFC to enable you to do this will cost nearly the same as the Selin anyway. As far as wiring goes; http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=939385&forum=technical&dtSearch=0 http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=1086713&forum=technical&dtSearch=7 This is why you either need a Selin of SAFC; http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=1044613&forum=technical&dtSearch=1
yeah, i have all the components i need (dont have an AFC) i cant see why making up a simple summator wont do the trick. Vout = V1+V2, (MAF signal out = the sum of the two MAF signals in) which i bet is the basic function of the selin if it doesnt work i'll shell out the 250$ for the selin, i like two have my little projects.
That's pretty much all the Selin does. The Selin just has the snazy plugs and casing, oh and a option to average the signals too.
all this is confusing me. why is it made complex. isnt the easiest way to install a dual setup is : 1. 2 mafs (one fake or dead, one perfect working) 2. 2 pods (one fake/dead maf to one pod, one perfect working to other pod) 3. go buy 2 90degree bends aluminium etc 4. get some couplers 5. install and get your ecu retuned (so you can change the k value etc to half the intake air value) 6. bobs ur uncle ....
1 working maf and 1 fake will leave you with stalling issues. i tried everything 2 fix it... only thing that did was another 2nd maf!!
personally i'd rather use two working MAF's over fudging figures in the ecu, and if i dont like the way the set up runs or one MAF shits itself i just put it back to original, dont have to worry about running around flashing my ecu.. just my thoughts.
what i mean is one real maf, and the other just a dummy, and have the connection going to the real maf and just retune the ecu to change the values etc....
exactly what i had. a dead maf... try it if u want.. search tt.net "doolz" "stalling" and "flower pot mod" u need dual maf 2 run properly
so what you mean is dual maf with both maf's hooked up??? ive seen others who just have one maf connected and the ecu calibrated to compensate valuesss.... p.s doolz setup is where both banks are linked. we are talking about completle seperate pod intake setups here.
ive tried doolz (linked version) and independant dual intake systems with 90 degree bends.. also i have tried with both setups with 1 working maf and 1 fake maf.. and 2 working mafs you need 2 working mafs or your car will simply fall on its face coming back to idle.. oh and yes i had my ecu calibrated...
i've got the doolz intake with one working afm and one dummy one. the ecu's k value is calibrated to suit and it has never been an issue for me.
Interesting topic and quite relevant to a lot of us planning Dual Intakes. Did anyone ever find out if the Nistune board supports dual intake on the Z32? Selin seems like a good option if it means you have to use an in-between such as the AFC for the Doolz setup.
A bit unsure if Nistune will do this. But there is a utility, dont know how well it works, third post down. http://ecu2.forumwise.com/ecu2-thread1821.html
