Well after local Zedder Brad started and finished his rebuild way before me it gave me a metaphorical kick up the ass.

So ive got the short block together , 1 head, water pump , oil pump etc.

After today i should have the heads on, timing gear and probably evertything up to the upper plenum.

I think the only thing im waiting on is to get some injectors cleaned and flow tested.

For those of you who dont know, this engine will be standard internally apart from fairly extensive port work.

turbo's are GT28R cores in stock housings, tuneagent dumps and front pipes 3in catback. ducted FMIC and a choice of injectors. modified stock 370's which apparantly flow 440 now, or the old 555's

The experience of being zedless again really sucked, so im gonna run a soft tune , have it doing 330rwhp and get at least 12 months of trouble free motoring. That is the new goal.

thanks mike, shouldnt really run into any problems, didnt strip the lifters and that this time round, left them standing up in oil.

The engine side of things should be cool. but the body work and interior has been exposed to the harsh QLD sun for a long time now. poor Zed.

Actially, the only real unknown is the turbo's im fitting, imagine one of them has a blown seal. Ill cry lol

Awesome Niall, you'd easily crack 270kw with those mods though mate, any thoughts of a dual tune/dual boost arrangement?

ie, conservative tune for around 240kw, and flick a switch for ~270kw to let your hair down, and dyno days? Just a thought mate. :)

Worthless without pics i know, sorry.

Just started the car tonight, lifters quietened down after a few mins running, started first time with good oil pressure. absolutely delighted

had a few small air leaks, causing the boost gauge to read real low which gave me a fright at teh beginning, i used the semi hard run in procedure and the rings bedded in real quick.

Its un tuned with 555 injectors and 10 psi through the GT28R core stock turbo's and it pulls extremely hard. i leaned it odd enough that it wasnt running crazy rich as i obviously didnt want that on a new motor.

the performance is outstanding for a untuned set up and only squeezing in half throttle so i know it has alot of potential.

Need to get the exhaust replaced , its quite loud, someone dropped a dime on me so i had a friendly visit from the Queensland police after i had done the run in. So i think ill go get the exhasut done this week.

At last there is no real pressure in the cooling system even after a good run .

No driveline vibrations after the new center bearing install so i think the tailshaft unis have a bit more life yet.

I should be getting a chip tune this week so ill get that in, give it a few weeks on the low boost and then start to slowly increase it

So yeah another sucsess story i thought id share

Yeah it started first time as if i had just started it 10 mins before.

Really glad i did the tailshaft center bearing, short shifter and all that other stuff in one go. Its a different car.

As for the turbo's, as they say in star wars , I aquired them in a game of chance. so i didnt actually pay for them as such.

Motor pull time again, this saturday its going to the workshop, to pull the motor and replace the actuators, then i can boost it to 20psi , play with the timing and hopefully do a nice number on the dyno day. While ive got it out ill chuck a 2nd hand gearbox in too so i can get mine rebuilt to fix the 4th and 5th syncro problems

Booked in for new mufflers on Tuesday next week. then paint work the week after dyno day.
Soon there will be nothing else that can fail...
