hey guys i have brought a 1989 300zx tt 2+2 and have a few questions first of all wat boost should it be running from factory mines running 0.5 bar? also it seems like its idle is rough is it normal for these cars and if not any ideas y this is happening. so far i am realy enjoyin the zx altho i expected it to be a bit quicker
hey mate....from factory the tt runs 9psi boost any details on the car??? how many ks? probs a good idea to get a plenum pull and 100k service done. check your connections....if your not handy with tools etc, maybe take it in to member drz400y and get him to have a look over...will give you a good idea on what you need to do to get your car going properly again
yeah its done 105 000 and already had the 100 k service done everything on the car is stock aprt from the cannons on the back witch i dont realy like. wat connections should i be cheaking
ptu, tps and afm as a starter....also got any vac leaks? also maybe read this as well http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.335 what is the compression like?
good excuse for a tech-day good excuse for a tech-day ... get a conzult, a few zedders, and a bbq together.
Hey, it should be 0.62 bar. You sound like you're running in safety boost and it might not even be running on all 6 cyl from the rough idle you describe. -Kirill
No it is not normal for the idle to be rough. Safety boost is 0.48 bar so that would be a good place to look for the missing power. A good place to start is with a diagnostc check.
The first thing you need to do is learn how to do an ECU Diagnostic, my guess is you have a code that is putting the ECU into "Saftey Boost" (7 psi with very unresponsive ignition and fuel maps).
G'day Brent. I live in Greenmount (half hour from Warwick) If you like you're welcome to pop around to my place and i can connect datascan up, give it diagnostics for you and try and fix your rough idle and get it boosting up to where it should be. Let me know if you're interested one weekend mate Cost = few beers Cheers, Benny.
just done a ecu diagnotic and came um clear 55 i think was the code and also tested the O2 sensor part in ecu and left wasnt falshing like right
Doesn't seem to bother Benny, as long as it has Beer written on it TED's are the universal Zed currency though...
Yep, left and right should be indicating about the same. Left O2 sensor may be shot. This would make the ECU read O2 incorrectly, and your idle will then run crappy. But hey, what do I know, I'm a noob
My GUESS is yes. But I have an NA, so I don't know for sure. Someone else will confirm for you. "Have patience my young padawan" lol
O2 sensors won't put it in Safety Boost. Code 55 is a very good start. You might want to check your collant temp sensor connector, even though you didn't get a code 13 you might not be getting the correct reading if the connector is corroded. While the ECU thinks the engine is cold, it will keep the engine if saftey boost. Sounds like a few beers for Benny would be a very wise investment.
