Looking good Rob. What gearbox are you planning to use? -2K spec? and come on mate, your turbo choice is?
Already got a 2k box, twin plate carbon clutch and a quaife/leader gear R230 set aside. Should do for starters -there are so many options coming onto the market these days though. Haven’t settled on turbos yet. A little while back I realised that technology was moving faster than the motor so I’ll see what’s on the market when I’m actually ready to bolt some up. New G series looks good though.
Bit more progress on the motor. When you use exhaust cams and gears on the intake side the dowels are such that the timing marks on the belt no longer align with the marks on the gears. Mitch has come up with a nice work around and had the gears laser etched to suit. Another little detail with the lower plenum -I bought up a full set of OEM studs and washers and supplies a set of stainless locking nuts rather than using bolts. Why? Predominantly because I like high end fasteners lol. Also has the benefit of transferring any fastening load to the stud, rather than the threads in the head. Pretty well ready to ship and to say it will be nice to have it back in my own workshop is an under statement.
looking good rob , this will be a crazy engine once all sorted , what brand crack is that , also stock stroke ?
Had a few more bits come in. Getting a little ways ahead of myself but turbosmart stuff going very cheap at the moment so picked up a set of 40mm comp gates. The new electronic wastegatea look awesome but also very large -I think these will be the best bet in the Z. Build quality his first class and the new gen 5 have some nice features including spring position sensor and water cooling.
Couple of turbos turned up today. Probably the last parts photo for a while until the engine turns up and I can get on with assembly.
Impulse bought some Nismo pedals a little while back. Wanted to get them looking new again so I sent them off the adept metal polishing for a brushed polish and clear powder coat. Pretty happy with how they turned out. Should compliment the cluster/steering wheel/horn button/shifter OG logo bits I have for the cabin.
