You should ditch the FMIC idea and go for the option below. Will let you make the most of those injectors and im sure Chris would love to help set it up. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Devils-Own-Universal-Stage-1-Water-Meth-Or-Alcohol-Injection-Kit-SQ2-5002-/330908833227?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d0bb415cb
If your car already has an exhaust & pod on it. Turbotech MBC - $50 APEXi SAFC2 - 150 + 150 tune Japtek SMIC's - $300 Should be plenty quick.
For $1000 I'd buy a daily and save up till you can afford to fix the thing. When you have problems and you continue to drive with said problems, those problems become problems. Eventually leading to "too much of a problem to worry about"
Perhaps some performance tyres too, RE001 back in the day made me so much more confident in the Z's grip. Moo might be able to help you out
I've never heard of anyone fitting a FMIC without having to do some cutting. FMIC's look cool but you will be trading some early boost for the pleasure. Because of the larger tank capacity it takes a while longer to compress the volume (for boost to build), so responsiveness is lost. When I installed mine I believe it cost me about 500rpm. Instead of gettting boost in the early 2000rpm's it was coming on in the later 2000's. Sure they might cool better etc but how often are you boosting for long enough to experience a drop in efficiency due to intercoolers? If it's not a track car I'd guess rarely if ever. A better (more conservative) alternative would be upgraded SMIC's for a daily driver that doesn't run big HP number. There are plenty of high powered Z's that still choose SMIC's.
NOW YOU HAVE That's because no one buys the right FMIC for the 300ZX. There is only 1 that is correctly designed for the Z .. NO response loss TDM
Main reason is that everyone THINKS that a FMIC is made in China AND costs $400. A real one that works and fits properly cost $1500 and is light and fits like a glove. Like the one that was fitted in my old red car. It was perfect. You get what you pay for..............
thank you for the info anyway my car is going to be like this by the end of the week, partly because my budget was extremely low and partly because i got good deals on parts -FMIC -Greddy EBC -HKS Filter -Chipped ECU -Larger Injectors -Bilstein Suspension -New Brakes -New Tires -Full Exhaust -No radio/speakers haha -Lots of deletes in the engine bay -New hoses -New vac lines -New spark plugs -Rad/block flushed and good coolant -Engine flushed and new oil -All connectors cleaned/replaced -Heavy duty clutch -Plenum pull with water bypass i'm pretty sure there's more, that's all i can think of so far
Correct. Cools and flows well too. In fact considering the absolute minimal modifications required for fitment I would go so far as to say "the only one correctly designed for the zed"
Plasmaman and the old TTZ FMIC had lovely light and tight fitting ally piping, The most I had to cut was the back 5mm lip off the rear of the bar reo and a small section where the upper pipe hit. Then the TTZ FMIC fitted perfect. Think the plasmaman is even better fitting.
Points taken and conceded. But to save myself on a technicality I'd like to point out that the thread is about "mods (plural) for 1 grand", this will only include FMIC's where cutting is required to fit . Out of interest, do these FMIC's fit under both the OEM TT and 2K bars?
