nah cant make the barbie unfortunately but if that coz order goes ahead I could grab them when I pick parts up? yeah think a 6.5 will be the way to go, need to chase some up in the next couple weeks. Want to get the bar powder coated first though, black I'm thinking so it doesn't stand out as much. cheers, Tim
Sounds good man, I'll keep you updated Yeah black bar will look good, but I actually like the contrast haha
Shameless plug of my BMW X5 for sale http://www.carsales.com.au/private/...d=4.8is|CarAll&silo=Stock&num=15&sort=default Also, Nice Build
Wow, Ive just read this thread from start to finish for the last 3 hours. Just have to say nice work mate keep it up. Im subscribed. lol
Thanks champ, glad your enjoying it, best bit hasn't even come yet Yeah the actual unit I am, not the plastic compartment though. PM if you're interested mate. Currently the build is at a stop cause I'm waiting on parts All in good time I suppose.
Progress has been slow recently, not much I can do while I'm waiting for parts, however I managed to pick this up nice and cheap, should be a nice addition to the build and it's what I've been after for a while now.
So updates have been few and far between these days due to a delay, however things are picking up again Managed to convince Rod to sell me his Escort Racing front bar. My god it is sex. Also got a set of leather rear seats to complete the interior, for now anyway.
Doubt it'll be today, looking at tomorrow or Thursday... I'm keen as, when it all arrives it'll be late Christmas haha
Christmas In January After months of waiting, my CZP order finally arrived! I'd like to make a point of saying that Coz/CZP had nothing to do with the ridiculous delay in receiving the parts. On the goodies list: -Full 200k service kit -Full genuine Nissan gasket kit (With Cometics Head Gasket) -BDE engine mounts -ARP Head/Main studs -MSP manifolds -Greddy Multi D/A Gauge (Analogue Oil Pressure with Digital Oil temp & Water pressure) -Lightweight pulley kit -SPL brake ducts -Brembo rebuild kit -Southbend Flywheel -Southbend Stage 4 single plate clutch -Braided turbo oil lines Awesome to finally have the parts in my hands, but it was short lived. Straight from picking them up, the vast majority of them went straight to my engine builders. From here, the motor will be given the usual overhaul. Everything will be cleaned, balanced, with new rings and bearings throughout Have to admit, having everything in my hands this afternoon made me realise what a massive job this is, I felt very overwhelmed to be completely honest, but I'm determined to push through! Updates should be coming in a lot more frequently again. I've missed this :zlove::zlove:
What model SB clutch is that? Refer to my history with the problems i ran into with that setup. My SB clutch and flywheel have since been removed from the car awaiting return to America for a refund on faulty parts.
Linky Code: 300-K06046-OFE-S4 Name: Southbend 300ZX DXD Clutch - OFE Stage 4 SS Twin Turbo I read about your issues after purchase, I'm severely hoping that I don't run into the same issues as you.
Yeah same as mine im sure. I tell ya what, get a few pressure plate to flywheel bolts, and bolt the assembly together as it is and check for the finger height install. This is the finger height install on my SB gear that gave me troubles, this is even after some flywheel mod to make it work; This is a comparative finger height of what a 'normal' install should look like; You can even see by the crappy photos that the 2nd one thats 'normal' the fingers sit slightly proud of the assembly. Go and bolt it together to see what it looks like. I really hope you dont run into the same problem as myself and 4 others with that same setup. Fundamentally this is the issue, the thickness of the friction plate. This is our SB; And this is 'normal'; Goodluck!
WhiteNight (Steve is it?), I've been worried about my future clutch since your post on the difficulties you've encountered. My Southbend is the stage 5, 6 puck though. So don't plan on troubles. I'm keen to see how you go with installation of this clutch, Dean. Just check it all looks good before bolting in, you don't want the same happening to you
Yeah Sim thats right. I think the SB puck might be free of this issue. Ive gone back to stock flywheel and a full face exedy clutch as a result. You may or may not have the same experience as I did, but thats what we found as a result of all this southbend gear and why it didnt work. For Chris (ezzupturbo), my SB clutch&fly combo was the 2nd he had to remove as non-working due to this issue. I would advice checking the finger install height before bolting the gearbox back in place!
Will do man, thanks for the classification Steve. When I get the motor back I'll be sure to go over everything.
Tomorrow I'm taking the zed on the track for the first time for a free for all day, pretty much for first timers I'd say. Changed the oil and filter today and installed my SPL brake ducts. Also got myself a GoPro so there'll be footage, can't wait to see how I perform and how the zed stacks up
