The Heads go to machine shop next Monday or Tuesday, I won't be ordering parts till first or second week of October. MoulaZX
He's excused, Ron. He's working outside the backyard. Unlike me where I have a beautiful garage with a "once" beautiful and spotless ceiling... ...until someone decided to make his presence felt. What could that "ED" mean?! Someone decipher for me puhlease... AAA
lol i recall that day/night.... i believe the set to the left of this mysterious "ED" character, are mine
Update: Head & Lower Plenum Pictures + Bonus Shots! Still new to this DSLR stuff (we all gotta start somewhere) so please bare with me. I realized after I took the shots that exposure was a little too high. Still many more pictures of this build to come so I should hopefully get the hang of it by then. First up, the Heads... well, one of them at least. The other is still wrapped and boxed up. Generic shots of heads. Intake Port shots. Exhaust Port shot. Match Ported Lower Plenum Shots Bonus Shots. 5 points for whoever can guess where the Heads on the right are off More bonus Shots. Took a quick stab at HDR, still very new to this... Before: After: Before: After (far too strong in this one, I know): Last Bonus Shot. Teaser for the next batch, when I take shots of the Engine Block. For the Camera enthusiasts. Original shots were all 18 Megapixels. Shots were taken on a Canon 600D using a basic Canon EF-S IS II 18-55mm lens f1:3.5-5.6... and after I got back on comp, realized exposure was left at +1 heh . Cheers, MoulaZX
Update: Heads Delivered to Shop Finally got around to taking the Heads to the 'Machine Shop'... its the guy's house, but he has a complete setup in his garage and does amazing work so quite confident in the end result. My dad has been taking any head related work to him for years and not a single complaint. Heads look in good condition, but it seems they've been milled VERY far down, as you can see in a few shots from the previous post, so much so you can't even make out the 'piston ring groove' bit on some of the cylinders. Also wondering what effect this is going to have on my compression (obviously it'll go up, but would it be enough to cause issues, for example...). I'm guessing a good 3-4mm has been taken off when compared to a Factory Head. The plan is to mill them again extremely finely to remove any surface scratches (about 3 thou) and after that, he's going to finish the surface off by hand with oil & stone. A method he reserves for the pedantic and perfectionist type jobs... The thing we're hung up on now is figuring out of the Factory Cams can still be used. Plan is to finish taking out old engine tomorrow, rip Heads off, take them to the Shop and let him do as much comparing between the too. Few shots when me and my dad took the Heads over tonight for him to briefly look over. Cheers, MoulaZX
Thanks Arv. LOL I just realised you Photo-shopped your Sig image... I don't remember there being bushes down at the back... Did your neighbour park his car back there again and ruin your picture? MoulaZX
Not photoshopped at all! And yes, he parked that freakin' ford there again, just in time for my photoshoot. So ran to bunnings and bought some bushes... planted them onto his front yard to cover the shitbox... AAA
Update: Engine Out! Dug into it today. Dropped the Exhaust, Driveshaft, disconnected all Gearbox plugs, removed Gearbox bracket and took apart a few smaller things back in the engine bay and pulled out the Engine late this afternoon with considerable help from my Dad (a big thank you to him, as always). I have a LOT of clean up work to do tomorrow. Yes I realise the photos are large. Kinda defeats the purpose if you have a good camera that can capture a lot of detail and resize to low resolutions. Tip: Use Firefox and install Image Zoom add-on. Hover mouse over image, hold right click and use mouse-wheel to zoom in or out in real-time. Or, hold right mouse button over picture, then press the left button to resize the image to fit full screen in your browser. Engine Out Finally! Mmm, looks delicious... (Passenger side Turbo, near badly leaking High Pressure PS Line, plus screwed PCV valves) Driver's side Turbo, little cleaner, but still filthy. Where she's currently chilling, before I go down tomorrow to degrease the F*CK out of her. Ever since I bought her, its been leaking from the High Pressure PS Line =( You can see just underneath both Brake Master Cylinder AND Clutch Master Cylinder where its been leaking and slowly drizzling down the Firewall & Brake Booster =( Cheers, MoulaZX
Bloody hell Emile. I hope you have 10,000 cans of degreaser... Are your old dumps for sale? What are they? I'm in the market, as of today.
I don't think that was grubbier than mine. Or was it?! I need Wizard's honest opinion on such matter... Arvin
Sadly no, only have about 3 or 4 left. Hope that'll be enough And I'll get back to you. Haven't thought that far ahead yet. But I guess yea, since I won't have a need for 4-Bolt Dumps any more.... now that I have these puppies! MoulaZX
