Ikeya arms are now mounted in the new position will now have better traction /grip and help with roll centres as well
be close but not parallel.. JP was saying you can over do it if you go too far (something about bump steer) I can always modify the other one if need be by 5-10mm but for now its 100% better than stock.
It is around the same squat angle as R33.R34 and S15 so will squat more under hard acceleration. They are still far from parallel to the ground, but no longer anti squat geometry, which Nissan realised and improved on in later models. We stilll have to check bump steer and may have to raise the inner steering pivot point, which can be done.
things are starting to take shape.. diff is also in with leader gears and energy bushes didnt have time to buy the quaife lsd so at a later stage will be fitting it with a mungyz diff cooler cover . couldnt wait for the group buy on the hicas eliminator.very good to have these now Aussie made much cheaper than SPL and better than the usual lump of alloy with stock nylon fittings. fitting and checking stoptech rear rotors on with backing plate cut back... (still to be deburred) very happy with the quality of work so far
Ageed looking good Rob, hope this is going to hit the race tracks, we need some more Zed muscle out there.
whats happening with the rear upper control arm attach points? Are they going up as well? Also whats the go with the front ?? I expect you want it a fair bit lower than stock. Keep them pic's coming
the rear upper camber arms should be fine its not as critical or badly affected like the lower arms .although front camber arms will need doing .JP can clarify this . the front will also have the pivot point raised which will be started on when rear is done . As JP said its an equation to get the front and rear roll centres correct
began raising the pivot points at the front about 25mm ,top camber arm will need to be done as well test fitting..you can see the removable shims on the ikeya arms that can give you extra lock for drifting. couldnt help myself ..testing slotcar 10.5 inch wheel on rear
Nice! What width are those tyres? I just ordered a pair of 275s for the back of mine I have nearly finished the first diff cooler, will send you pics, not 100% happy with the looks but it will perform perfectly. I want 4.1 gears for mine (no I don't want an NA diff)
they are 295's and if you look on 300zxclub forum the gears pop up every now and then mine cost $630us delivered and yes putting an N/A diff in a 2 seater is NOT good for weight balance.
damn that's insane. i can't believe there is no wheel gap even with the strut @ full extension. is that WITH the hub brought in like you mentioned or in stock location? i've tried to do a balanced setup on mine. low but not compromise the roll centre too much. right now and all the arms on my zed are at least parallel but the front camber arms are the only ones pointing up and not flat/pointing down. looking forward to seeing the pics of how you are raising the front mounts.
the hub might be slightly in from stock havent checked yet.. but good news is there is a little more clearance on the inside and more camber I can put ..looks like I dont need to pull the quarters as much as I thought
Powertrix rear strut bar is in .very easy to stall just a little fiddly with template to cut out the trim panels
Have you bought some new steering rod ends yet? They are going to have to need to have longer shafts to go with the lowered Ikeya arms. I bought these. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/D-Project-ST...ZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item45ee414c2f Lowers the ball joint about the same amount as your lower arm has dropped. Those Ikeya front lower arms are really nice. I couldnt afford those and ended up getting some bok choy ones that looked OK. I like yours better though.
