    Hey all

Time has come where I may be looking at selling the Zed. Reasons for which are that I need a more economic work car (travelling long distances to visit clients) and I need a car I can put the dog in the back of (he really doesnt like laying down under the hatch in my 2+0).

I usually service the Zed myself, but got the last service done (just before christmas) by professionals to ensure that everything was up to scratch. Also got them to have a proper look over to make sure I wasnt missing anything.

Things I know I need to do to make it a more tempting sale item:

Fix and paint Bomex front bar.
    Paint roof.
    Finish Brazilian.
Glue down dash where its lifting on the air vent.

Apart from that, and giving it a mega anal retentive clean....what do you recommend doing? I want the possible new owner to have a great start to Zed ownership so...

Also, what price should I stick on it? Details as below. All this was done in the last year and a half.

    1991 J-spec 2+0 slicktop.
122,000 on the chassis, full rebuild @ 98,000. So semi-new engine.
    Wisco pistons 40 thou over.
Eagle con rods (so forged internals).
100,000km service done while rebuilt (ie: all new gaskets, water pump, belts, etc etc).
Most lines/pipes in engine bay replaced with silicone.
    Most electric connections replaced.
    Injectors cleaned and rejetted.
    Upgraded radiator.
    Upgraded SMICS.
    Apexi pod.
Gizzmo IBC (set at 10 PSI).
    Cat-back stainless exhaust.
    BOVs
Radiator air guide. (which a mate went and stuck bloody stickers on... Only fair I guess, since I put some down the side of his car)

So most things done to the engine with plans to stick on bigger turbos - alas, girlfriend happened and she ate all my money :p

Light weight rims (unfortunate amount of gutter rash on LHS due to previous owner). This can be fixed - however I was waiting to get 5 spoke, dish, black.
Adrenaline Protenza (spelling?). Fronts are good, rears are on their way to needing a change.

    Slotted rotors
    stainless braided brake lines
new pads (good brand, semi race ones... cant remember the name)
Ditto on the fluid, some blue stuff... I got almost a full can of it someplace).

    Front/Rear adjustable camber arms.
New front outer tie rod ends
    Front/Rear Carbing (copy) strut bars.
    Front/Rear Whiteline Sway bars.
    Racing Logic Coil overs.

    Windows tinted.

Interior is in really good condition - small wear hole in drivers seat (tweed). I have fitted a clarion head unit, speakers (begging for a sub), fire extinguisher :p. Rear cover thing works well and is in good condition.

All electrics (windows, mirrors, etc) work fine.

All OEM parts taken off have been kept. Space Saver too. Comes with another set of cat-back exhaust (smaller, quieter), pillar gauge replacement (2 cup), 6000k HIDS, manual :p

Im sure there is other stuff too, but be buggered if I can remember it all. I have 90% of the receipts for the work done.

And of course, in sexy black. ;)

Custom Plates too. ZED032 - in Black, with white letters.

What would be a fair asking price?

    Thanks in advance!

    Andy.

PS: know of anyone who has a wagon and wants a Zed... let me know. :p Either a forrie, X-trail, something equally as boring... :(

I'd be fixing the little niggly things as cheaply as possible without it looking crap. Give everything a good cleanout, make sure all the aftermarket suspension arms are greased up and all the electrics work.

I'd be asking around $15k depending on bodywork. The forged engine should push the price up a bit. And it's black :D

1/ get rid of the dog :D

With a RWC.... starting price of $10,000 & be prepared to drop down to $8000 because it needs some work .

New husky pup. :p so no.

And really? 10,000? No wonder Zeds have a bad name for being cheap/nasty. Its insured for 13k... I might as well go find a river to roll into.

I'm sure you could get more.... and 15 ~ 13 thou isnt out of reach, but you listed some of the uglies....
with those done then ask the bucks your expecting,
I valued it on as it stood and needing the fixes to be done.

the other option would be to fit a quality car-seat cover and let the pup ride up front
    ;)

    excellent thread.

I think the fact is, when selling you DO want to minimize cost to yourself also (everyone does, that's life).

So the biggest part of me if I were buying is that you show me your "to do" list and go over every little issue with the car.

This makes for a nice open honest sale and means BOTH parties can sleep well at night.

I did this will the 180sx. Showed the girl EVERY little thing that wasn't quite right (down to headlight housings not quite matching, recommend a breajk upgrade (CA18 brakes are shit) etc etc)

She was very very grateful and gave me the asking price without even trying to talk me down.

The fact that you want to clean your Zed up is excellent. Anything that you DONT get done, tell the next owner about. In doing that, you've done all you can, and more than most.
