    Hi

I've hit a brick wall with this water temp gauge problem i'm having. I installed a Autogauge water temp gauge ($60, may effect the problem =)) and the reading is being altered when aircon, headlights, rear demist, anything that changes the voltage is turned on.

When turning the aircon on and off the water temp jumps from 80 to 90 and back to 80 instantly (Checked actual water temps and they stay at 80). The headlights make the water temp increase by about 3/4 degrees. I've wired up a voltage regulator and the gauge is being supplied with 11.8 Volts at all times with or without aircon. Was wondering if anybody could shed some light on how to stop this sudden jump in water temp...???

Could it just be that the gauge is cheap and s*&$..... Would a stepper motor gauge be more accurate and solve this problem???

    Thanks in advance

Get a decent gauge mate. I had an autogauge that never worked at all - did the sweep when you turned it on and then didn't move :bash:

What have you got it wired into?

It works fine, its just the reading seems inaccurate whilst aircon is on.... Its wired in to accesory wire behind stereo with a voltage regulator between which provides a constant 12V

    Don't use aircon?

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Aircon is for the weak :p[TIS]

Aircon is to good not to use..... But as i said the actual water temps are fine its not heating up when the aircon is on (According to datascan), the reading on the gauge is just incorrect when the aircon is on.....

Where is your sensor, in a hose adaptor or are you using the threads in the hard pipe?.
If a hose adaptor, you must ground them (The adaptors). They often have a little screw to facilitate a grounding strap.

Its tapped into the hard pipe

Baz, where you out in the vert again without a hat today?

To stay on thread - I would return the Autogauge and get a decent gauge.

lol, bob ... the new Top Cheer instrument will trace actual "hot spots" through out the entire engine bay and virtually any spot on the zed that develops a heat bank ... e.g. tyres, rotors, exhaust .. it will measure and store .. so, possible blockages and the like can be readily identified, located, tracked .. whatever ... not just a pretty face, son ...!!!

.. you need to attend one of our very special performances to appreciate how damn good the Useless And Silly show can improve your performance .. and that of your Zed ... lol ... you can become Useful And Sensational .... eek ...!!!
