235/45R17 with +40 offset... How would these sit on the zed? What are the pros and cons of having them on?
They'd sit well inside the guards and look like you stole the wheels of a carolla. Their a bit small for the rears for my taste in grip.
Not particularly sure, but the rims on mine you saw the other week, stats on them are 19's, 9.5 Rears, 8.5 Fronts and both front and back are +38 offset. +35 to +40 is the most ideal offset im told for our Zeds. Some pics (crappy phone pics): Camera shots of the rims here before they went on. MoulaZX
On a 9" rear offset of 33-40 is fine along with a 255/265 tire. On a 8.5" front offset of 30-38 is fine along with a 235 tire. Just put up the sizes of the wheels you want and ill let you know which will fit best.
I run +46 offset on my 9' rear rims (can poke a huge tire in there now, 275 fits easily ) & +23 on the front 8" rims fills the guards nicely with a 245 tire..... the rubber DOES JUST scrub the plastic inner guard liner under heavy cornering or big bumps in the road surface.... hasnt worn through as yet you have to take into account that tire manafactures seem to have differing measurement devices.... IE a dunlop 245 wide tire is physically WIDER than a 265 yoko ( measured with a tape ) I dont know why this is so but I've found it applies to several brands and can be heart breaking when those new tires wont fit even tho they are the same size as the last lot but from a differant manafacturer.... Even the WMS ( Wheel mounting Surface) varies from ZX to ZX.... I have 3 zeds and all 3 vary by 30mm, I know of others that have found this annomily aswell and have as a result fitted much bigger offsets to compensate the differance..... yet I cant hang the wife's rims from her ZX on mine ( hers being 9" rims with +38 offset), the bare rims hang outside the guard more reading for you ...... http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=293893 test fitting before you buy rulz Kingy
Thats interesting regarding the dunlops to yokos. I knew that sometime the overall diameter may be different by a few mm when comparing different brands but didn't know the width would be that different. Does this apply to all dunlop tire's being wider that the actuall measurement, e.g. 245 actually measuring 255 or more? I was considering Dunlop Direzza's 245/40/18 for my fronts but you got me thinkin about it now
thats just 2 types that I've encountered... there are huge varyations between manafacturers, a set of Fedrals I've got here are 275.... but measurer out at 295 actual, another set of toyo's that say 255 are smaller than the advant 245s this is hapening even tho the profile height is the exact same on all the tires & yes I've encountered some varyations in the so-called profile height aswell, the set on the rear of my missus' ZX say they are 45 but they are more like a 55 or even 65 series profile tire !!! a tape measure is the only real way of knowing what you have.... Rims also seem to be "badly labeled' sometimes...... have a set here that the manafactures sticker says +46, they are actually +35 ( measured) test fit em..... no dramas
you dont get rims that fit the car, you make the car fit the rims!!!:bash: otherwise its fail offset 9.5" wide +25 with rolled guards and stretched tyres ftw!!! kthanksbye
Can you please put up a pic of these asap would like to see how they fit, also what tires you running?
Thank god for the lathe I've machined the WMS off of 4 rear rims to get the offset to where I want it to be, removing 12mm was the best cut I've ever done to one pair or rear rims as they now look sweet as under the car. The cut also allowed me to get tires that sit properly, hate the drift style tucked in look :bash:
Hey would you have any before and after pecs where you had the 12mm machined of the hub, i would like to machine 5mm of mine to change it from 19x10" +30 to a +35. Only thing im slightly worried about that it would weaken the wheel, but there seems to be plenty of meat on the hub
