In fact, hasn't don for about 2 weeks but I've needed to use the car so kept quiet about it on here ;)

But today she's safely locked in the garage and NOT parked at work in the open haha.

Started a while back when using the remote, it would lock the passenger side and NOT the driver side.

I found I could get round this if I locked it by hand from the inside latch, held the outside door handle UP and shut the door (driver side) and then arm the alarm.

I could then still UNLOCK from the remote.

However now it wont even lock from the latch on the inside of the door.

When I try and push that forwards, it just feels spoungy and wont lock either door.

So it's an excuse to get those door panels off this weekend for the re-trim but what am I looking out for when I can see in there.

Is there a clip tht breaks or comes loose?

There is a common clip that breaks
All shall be revealed when you remove the door trim [TIS]

Metal rods, plastic clips, the clips fatigue over time

im a gonna kick your butt next time i see you :p

    1 min job

Me and mate have been at it all night (THE DOOR)

Good news is, door panel is off and ready for re-trim (will remove the passenger side tomorrow) and lock mech is FIXED!!!!

Will post pics tomorrow but basically near the actuator there's a block that 2 rods go into and 3 screws to tighten to stop the rods sliding.

All 3 screws were loose. Tightened up and she's now a demon lock from hell ready to lock your arse off :D

The only broken clip was to the barrel for the key lock. But that hasn't worked since I got the car so we just removed the rod as this had jamed at the base of the door (possibly the cause of the other issue)

    FIXED (with pics)

    K the issue wasn't a broken clip.

As said, driver side had failed to lock using the remote for some time. But COULD be locked from handle INSIDE the car

    However eventually this also failed.

The lock inside the car had a spongy resistance to it, and wouldn't fully engage the central locking.

On pulling the door appart we DIDNT find a broken clip as expected (appart from the one going to the key barrel which I dont care about)

So finding the issue was a pain as everything looked connected.

Then my mate noticed that there wasa rod going from the actuator (mine is after market i think, not sure) which goes to a joining block with 3 screws. Which then has ANOTHER rod which joins the actuator to the rest of the locking mechanism.

These 3 screws were ALL loose. So the rods were just sliding up and down in the joining block, and hence the mech was not moving.

Tightened the screws after setting the block in the correct possition and BINGO, she'd a mean locking machine

As said, going by an odd bracket (visible in the first pic) we're guessing this is an aftermarket setup?

So this may not help others.....or it may. I dont know

    But here's the pics anyway.
