Hi guys long time no post. z has been running like a dream until it decided that the replacement injector in no4 would start to die. it is a secondhand one and i expected it to only last for a bit but now it is on it's last legs. is it possible to replace this injector without having to remove the plenum because i cbf in this heat pulling the damn thing to pieces.

    thanks guys

Yeah, but you may have to take to the plenum with a die grinder.

I'd pull the plenum. Or pay Eric.

Unfortunately I am in the arsehole of the universe (kingaroy, Queensland) at the momentcand can't drop it round to anyone. i can do a plenum removal myself as I did the bypass of the hoses and such last time it is just such a time consuming job and would rather do it without the plenum pull if i can.

    Well that sucks :p

If you have already done the bypass then it shouldn't be too bad. If EGR has been removed you should be able to get it off within half an hour.

Only takes about 2 minutes with a die grinder, grind off the casting above one injector hold-down screw, undo them and pull the injector.

Its a PITA, involves using a dermal with a 90 degree grinding tip. even after you grind the small piece of plenum away to get to the second injector cap screw. they rarely come out and usually strip. I would advise just pulling the plenum, after you have it on and off once or twice the removal only takes about 1-1.5 hours. And reinstall 1.5-2 hours.
Hope this helps...btw remember to use a new plenum gasket if you decide to remove it and reinstall. New injector seals both upper and lower as well

    Pull the plenum

in my experience, if one injector has died, then the other five are not far behind.

Do an Ohm test on them all. They should read 10-12Ohms. Any that are outside this range should be replaced.

You can get them all professionally cleaned, checked. There is a local here we used called Dwight. If you are looking for replacement injectors, I know that Pezxed has some.

I had dwight do the cleaning about 4 months ago the injector in 4 was dead and i didn't have alot of cash at the time so we replaced 4 with an old injector that was ohming properly at the time. that injector has since decided to pack it in. Normally i would do a plenum pull but at present I would have to wait a week for gasket and such to arrive and all the rest and can't have the down time so I am looking at this method to replace the faulty injector and make life a little easier tho.

    Oh. OK. Good to hear

that you have got the injectors serviced... worth double checking the replacement injector Ohm's out OK and has not been sitting on a shelf for a while. They can clog/jam (open or closed) when exposed to atmosphere for an extended period of time.:zlove:
