So I've just called Newgel in canberra about getting a Z repainted... apparently they start at around $10000 Ten Thousand yes, still waiting to hear back from less pricey places... This seems like alot just to paint the car.

Any suggestions or good places to go?

I went to a place recently, in Adelaide obviously, who quoted 7,000 for a respray...
Just giving you some bearings :p

You can get away for it for $2-3K but they don't spend as much time on the prep work. They mask trim rather than remove it, etc, etc.

$10K will be a much better finish, trim and lights, etc will be removed. Everything prepped and minor blemishes fixed. You get what you pay for.

Under insurance I had a new front bar fitted and colour-matched. The bill they sent to AAMI was about $3,500. Less the $550 they paid for the bar.

For a full respray thats probably a pretty spot on price + or - a few k depending what sort of quality you want, its not 'just' painting the car... gotta remember all the prep work etc and its starts to get pricey...

    IB ?????

Zcar91 isn't on the forum very often, so is very slow to respond to emails. I'm pretty sure he uses Abel's in Silva Ave Queanbeyan. His red zed should have left there yesterday.

Abels refused to give me a quote over the phone (although they did sound good, booked out until next year though) Will.I.am sent me a message saying he knows a private guy that is still professional.
Very helpful forum we have here

Be very careful about using private ppl.

Just ask to see some of his work beforehand, nothing wrong with using someone private... tho its probably better if you know the bloke and the quality of the work..

    EBD vinyl wraps

I think this is the perfect time for me to mention that I am launching EBD Wraps on 01/01/2010.
We will be offering full DIY vinyl wrap kits as an alternative to over priced resprays. A full body vinyl wrap is the fastest and cheapest way to create an awesome car exterior and if you get bored simply rip it off. It's not just for commercial vehicles, exotics and motorsports, with ever improving installation technologies it's becoming easier for DIY installations, and now comes in a wide array of gloss, metallic, and matte/satin colors.

Prices for full kits will start from $675 and include everything you need to get installing. Alternatively you can also take the kit to most commercial signage places and have a 300zx wrapped for around 1k.

We will also be offering custom decals, rim wraps and clear protective wraps.

Keep your eyes peeled in the "For Sale by Business" section over the coming month for more information on available colors, custom patterns, and photos of our 300zx demo car.

Here are just a few examples of some wrapped cars:
