    Here you go.

Series 1 on the left, series 2 on the right.

The pic is from an article in our Tech section, titled Series 1 PTU repair.

As for external variations on either type, none that I'm aware of.

    Hope this helps.

you currently have a Series 2 PTU fitted to your car, or you are planning on upgrading to? (bearing in mind that the plugs are different ;) )

can anyone reccomend a quick way to get a series 2? ive had a look on this forum and there appears to be a very long waiting list on them?

i found them on ebay for about $200. and thats why i was checking the photos to make sure it was series 2

you could try contacting member "Kieren". Recalled that he had a spare. Whether he can with it is another matter. Bear in mind that you will need the S2 Connectors as well, unless you are exceptionally handy with a soldering iron.

There is also somebody wrecking a Series III in the "For Sale By Business" section. Nobody has enquired about the PTU yet either. Even if it is a S1, will still get you out of trouble.

That or join the queue in "Heavytrevvy" For Sale thread. (List is long as will be the wait as he gets them in batches with no markup).
