To gasket or not to gasket

    The sump pan oil pick up tube. I know it has an o-ring, but do I use a bit of gasket or no. Thanks. :eek:

    if it only comes with an o ring then use an o ring mate on the trucks i have done they never needed much more then that

    I normally use a bit of gasket cement, just a smear of blue or grey Maxx. Probably not required but it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling

    Don't use any type of sealant on any o'ring. If it is hard replace it with a new o'ring.

    Don't use anything but the o-ring. Anything else and you run the risk of it breaking loose and being sucked into the pump etc and causing a blockage .....result ... KABOOM ...new engine please

    Many years took some "advice" to use some non-setting gasket goo on the oil gallery o-rings between the head and barrels on my Ducati bike.
    I NEVER made that mistake again.
    Had to pull the engine to do the o-rings again after just a couple of months...........

    Thanks guys for the reply, o-ring is good condition, and didn't use gasket sealent.
