Every time i turn on the headlights/fog lights, there is a reasonably loud high-pitched "buzzing" sound coming from my boot.

This sound can even be heard from the outside of the car.

    What's up?

do you have HID's? sometimes the HID Ballasts make a buzzing sound when warming up when you turn the lights on, then it goes away shortly after.

If you are just running stock helogen bulbs then there may be another issue.....????

What the good Captain said. Behind the center trim panel, just unplug it.

The inverter for the Electro luminescent panel will be 2 wires in, and 2 wires out. Just unplug the 12VDC side and she'll be apples.

Follow the wiring back from the centre panel, you'll see it come through the bodywork. Follow back to the inverter and there will likely be a plug on it somewhere
