It took me over a year to get it to 90% complete.
I've always loved the Z's but needed a more practical car so i modified it to suit my needs.
Its fully engineered, except for the doors, still working on that.
The taillight section comes down which makes it a fully functioning ute.
I haven't decided on a colour so it'll remain camo til i work it out.
It was a Auto TT but i replaced it with a Manual NA, for everyday use.

omfg! bravo for your enginuity. The entire rear panel folds down as a tailgate even??? and is that a winch fitted to the front???
lose the aircraft landing lights and when you decide on a colour, it will certainly be something unique.

Now brace yourself for the shockwave. This could have worse rammifications than a Veilside kit ;)

    haha...that really is awesome!

but i'll agree... if you need the spottys at least look for something a bit more discreet and flush, i'm sure you would figure it out!

what colour are you thinking about painting it?
please dont go for some show pony pearl colour, would ruin this car.

other then that... its great, just needs some fat wheels and to be slammed!

The Camo has grown on me... I'll leave it til i work it out.
The lights are off, The engineer didnt passed them. They are positioned too far back.

i'm actually pretty damn impressed! The 300zx Ute thing has been an on-going joke for a while (something about the lift-back), but it doesn't look too bad for a ute. Its original, i'll give it that...haha

I've never been a fan of Utes, Ford or Holden.
Utes have never really had appeal to me (maybe because I just don't cart stuff about)

BUT... If I was ever going to buy a Ute it would at least be a Zed Ute.
that Ute engineering rocks... well done on the engineering.

    1 question:
On the best days I can only fit at a squeeze my grocery shopping + 4 six packs of Millers Chill in the back of my 2+2... how the hell do you fit anything more in the Zed Ute

All in all... It is definately a cool egineering piece of work. (although, I'm NOT an engineer)

Now THAT is an Aus-Spec Zed! :zlove:

Great work, how much weight will it support in the back?

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

I just love it!!! Very unique and looks great as a ute even, but will be a lot better when you paint it a proper colour, but you'll get plenty of looks while your carrying your fridge in the back. lol.

    Congrats and great work!!!!!!!

Awesome!! I think I like it better than the convertibles.. :zlove:

get some cat mudflaps for the back and a rm Williams sticker across the rear window and you will have a true roo shooter zed! :D

I've never really been into utes myself, but i'm always carting things around.
This way i've got the best of both worlds. I'll have more pics of it soon.
There was alot to modify to make use of the back, the spare wheel is where the petrol tank use to be, therefore had to make a tank and i got rid of the ABS.

I haven't tested it with max load as yet,
but the wheel arches have been extented for clearance from the tyres. I had 30" off road tyres on it at one stage...
Was looking into the compressed air shockers, but im not really ready for that stage yet, I got the TIENS on there for now.

lol funny i hadn't seen this post and only this morning I was looking at my zed thinking "hmm...remove the hatch glass and you've got a ute" :D

Good on you for doing something different mate. Looks like you've done a top notch job too.

I'd have possibly left the sides of the hatch in place, maybe welded to the body to retain the sleek look from the side, but remove the glass and replace with a straight down port window at the back of the "cab" and you'd still have the same tray space i reckon.

But that's just what i was thinking myself this morning (no not something I'm planning for this zed).

But i still love the way you've done it too.

Add a roo bar to "complete the look" ;) :D
