when my 300 is cold it takes around 5 mins to start as soon as its warm it starts fine does anyone know why this could be happening ????
Probably leaking into the engine and flooding it. Try replacing fuel reg and damper. If that doesn't fix it, you'll need to replace fuel injector orings.
Well since cold start also means "A while since last started", it could definitely be a small fuel leak. If you can definitely smell fuel then I'd say that's where your problem lies. A fuel leak of any kind will mean that it will lose pressure quickly. An uneducated guess would be maybe once the fuel is warmed up the leak becomes insignificant (fuel becomes more viscous or expands?) I think the FPR and Dampener also can cause these kind of symptoms when they are on their way out? Have any of you guys reseated any injectors for any reason? depending on which o-ring/seal is broken you could either be leaking fuel out of the fuel rail or into the cylinder.I destroyed 2 o-rings / seals when replacing a few of my injectors for the first time, and I had starting problems afterwards from flooding and pressure loss. I replaced those and sealed them back in correctly and the problems all went away.
Get your nose sniffing then! If it's leaking out the fuel rail then it might be visible. Mine was visibly trickling out of the injector seals.
stupid question but does it start after 5mins of cranking, another stupid question how do you get it warm to start it
Did you use new orings when you put the injectors back in? Maybe an o-ring was pinched when the injectors were re-installed in the rail?
I have had 2 seperate fuel injector "specialists" cut o'rings when installing the injectors back into the rails recently. One of them was our NA, leaked fuel externally, the other was a customers car, leaked fuel into the cylinder causing hard starting after being stwitched off for more than an hour or so.
usually after 5 mins of cranking it will start and i dont do anything to try and warm it up it usually just starts after 5 mins
