Sorry i'm late but i'm here to explain it. It is a z32 quarter panel fited instead of the 240sx rear glass. The rason i done it???? It is a lilte complicated..... Here in Greece when you import a car you are paying a litle fortune at the customs, especially for older cars. But if the car is hatsback (the rear door opens with the glass) then it could be considered as a "van" used for your job. You are oblicated to have only 2 seats, and dont have rear glasses or cover them with steel... It was very dificult to cover the oem rear glasses so we used z32 rear quarter panels and cover with steel the rear windows. Paint them black looks like having glasses So when the first of every year comes i dont worry about the taxes, normaly i would have paid almost 1000 euro every year for taxes+insurance, now i'm paying only 250 for both..... Thats the reason why
I ll go to the track for sure, after i finish some driveline upgrades. I am going to fit a z31 '89 turbo transmission which is the same internally as the z32tt, because now i use an z31 na transmission and it is the 2nd time now that it need rebuilt. Propably it cant goes on with this kind of torque. Also i'm going to change the differential with the final drive. Now i use a standar s13 open diff with 4.08 final drive. I bought now an s14 unit which is a factory lsd and has a 3.697 final drive. I just waiting for the new 6-puck clutch to arrive and ill put them all together. An aluminium driveshaft is in my future plans also....
I've done that HEAPS of times. Its funny coz if you hit the pumps they go BOOM and you nearly die, but then you can just bring the car to a stop and select "Full Fix" from the menu and she's good again. no...wait... that was in a GAME. my bad.
No M8, it isnt the same transmission. Unless there is some funky European release we know nothing about. The Z31 turbos came out with a Borg Warner T5 which is reportedly much more fragile and troublesome than the Z71 atmo box you have now. You really need an r30a transmission from a Z32. Im using an r30a which was stock in My D21 Navara V6. I dont have any comparisons on gear ratios between the Z32 and the Navara tho. L8tr E
Yup that's the transmission i am gonna fit... fs5r30a from a 89 z31 turbo. It is the same internally as the z32 but it will fit my setup easier than a z32 gearbox because of the starter location and the shift location. I will post some photos of the swap when i install it
Hello again, a litle update to my car. The stock turbo passed out, so we managed to get a gt3071 fitted to the original vg30det exhaust housing. For now only low pressure is used, 0.5 bar untill 5700 and after 5700 the pressure increases to 0.9 take a look to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOEoAUfWGAQ
