    AndyMac Better than you

Someones tried to hard to compress the piston by the screw, it's not what it's there for, it's to hold the arm whilst installing and removing.

You don't need that cast bit on there for the tensioner to function, it makes it tricky to hold the tensioner off the belt when re-installing without it though. Compress the tensionor with a small G-clamp and try it that way. I've never tried to reinstall a belt with the clamp on though...sorry.

    IB ?????

Can you wedge something in the gap?

Good luck, fingers crossed that there's no damage.

Good to see you have finally found the issue. Be nice to know what caused it.

You could use a large pair of multigrips to compress the tensioner when you refit it.

    Byran,

Great to see you found the problem, if we had a problem like that when we did my plenum i think i would lost the rest of what little hair i have left.

FIXED So as Kingy suggested timing was out a piece of plastic got between the belt and crank gear.So i've put new timing belt on and lined everything up got between did compression check 180 and 185 on all cylinders put it all back together and IT STARTED...

Only probelm is after running for 2 mins i turned it off checked everything and then noticed the timing belt tensioner has set it self back too loose ??? i adjusted it to 4mm when installed now the arm is hard up against it no little dick sitting out and no i didnt leave the screw in

Mate thats great news to hear its up and going again, it was really putting me off doing my plenum pull as i would hate for something like this to happen.
So what was the bit of plastic from that fell down made it loose it's timing?

I asked one of my workers to remove one timing belt cover for me and He somehow droped a piece of plastic in there, then decided not to tell me. His looking for a new job now ...
