Chucked my work jacket into my boot just as i was leaving work tonight, and discovered that the boot will not close... it doesn't lock.

    Great.

So had to drive on the freeway paranoid to no end, knowing that the boot could pop open at any moment, if i went over a bump in the road.

    Anyway.

Now i'm home, and the boot is still open. Problem being, this means that the boot light is still on, and i'm pretty sure if i leave it this way, in the morning my battery will be completely drained.

Soooo... does anyone either know a quick-fix for getting my boot to close, or an extremely easy way of removing/turning off the light in the boot.

Or does someone suggest i call up RAC and see if they can do something about it?

mine does this sometimes, for me its just the latch in front of the seat, it gets stuck up sometimes when i pull on it, go try an push it down,

Open the boot, move the plastics around the lock mechanism out of the way, then get a 10mm socket and see if you can raise the lock mechanism so the boot can grab it.

You probably won't have to raise it very far.

This is just a guess on my behalf.

    You're welcome.

I lowered my lock mechanism to get rid of a hatch rattle a few months back and noticed that you could very easily lower the locking mechanism too far and produce these exact symptoms. So even though it was a guess, it wasn't straight 'out of the blue'.
