hey all, this may end up being a very un-intelligent question, just so you know, i'm not that mechanical-savvy, but i'm learning!

i havn't touched the exhaust since i bought my zed, the loud noise was like a wank to me at first, but now it's just a pain in the ass on my long travels, i'm wondering on how to shut the thing up, i don't mind the growl from the outside, but when all i can hear the whole time my foot's on the accelerator is roaring it just gets annoying, and sometimes it makes a bit of a rattling noise also.

so, how do i "shut my exhaust up"?

    cheers.

Have you got an x-pipe or similar on your exhaust apparently this helps to reduce drone..

to be completely honest i have zero idea of anything to do with exhaust systems. so i'm unsure of anything, any way of explaining what i should be looking for? haha

Get a pair of Lukey straight-through centre mufflers.

I got some when I had a loud drone in the cabin and it fixed the drone, dropped volume slighly and didn't drop performance as far as I could tell.

I assume you have an aftermarket setup without the centre muffler h-pipe?

I second this. I had a stock system with a pair of canons and it droned like a bitch. Changed to some Magnaflow canons, aftermarket piping with an Xpipe and it sounds like sex. No more drone...

    Go the mighty Xpipe! :D

these are supposed to drop the decible rating down by 10db... alot of people use them on silvia's and skylines, there a tad expensive though so you would prob be better off finding someone local to rig one up using the right sized throttle body and a couple exhaust flanges

Don't do that  Huge back pressure and your EGT's will be stupid.

Proper mufflers and a x pipe will fix it. Or get a standard exhaust system and put that on.

if you dont mind the volume from the outside you can sound deaden the inside of your car... put a layer of dynamat in the boot well/walls/floors and it will quiten it down a fair bit..

    Hmmm

Mine did the same thing, I only replaced my mufflers with Varex Xforce mufflers and the drone went away completely. No X-pipe etc.

    2.5 " will be quieter than 3"
You can invest in sound deadening material for the cabin.
Make sure the car has catalytic converters installed, they remove a few dB.
The UAS centre pipe also removes 5dB.
